Thoughts on Myrtle Beach Golf Courses

We are heading down to Myrtle Beach next weekend for some golf. A few of us are going a day early to get an extra round in. We want to keep the price in the $70-$100 range for afternoon golf. Didn't have much time to look around, but I came up with 5 courses. Anyone play these, or have thoughts on other courses in the area. If possible we want to stay close to downtown MB as possible.

I am not sure where we are staying, but I do know that it is about a 10 minute cab ride from the masters :00hour

Here are the courses I found looked decent...
Wild Wing Avocet - $80
Thistle (looks to be about 35 minutes away) - $80
Glen Dornch (looks to be about 35 minutes away) - $80
The Wizard - $90
World Tour - $100

That is what we do every year. We have 12 guys go down and we usually book a package that include one 5* course and two 4* courses.

It is nice because with so many courses, it is hard to figure out where everything is and what are good places to play.

The guy we deal with only does group packages, since only 4 of us are getting their early, we are basically on our own for finding a single course.

I went with 20 guys a few years ago. we played 7 different courses in 7 days. I remembered they had 3 Glen courses, you mentioned 1. I listed them below. We either played Glen Dornch or Heather Glen, I can't remember, but I think any one of them would be fine. We also played Wicked Stick, which I believe John Daly helped design. Another 1 we played I think was Farmstead.

snoozer, find out where you are staying and i can help u out.. been there every year for the last 25.. even go there every year now as i live 3 hours south.. wild wing.. awesome..heather glenn as mentioned by my pats friend, blitz is also grat.. keep in mind, it is hard to go wrong with so many course there, but some are below par.. world tour is a must !! like tour 18 in dallas, but these are 18 of the best holes in the world.. well worth the money.. pine lakes is the granddaddy of the strand.. they serve mimosas on the first tee, and if chilly chowda on the 10th..depending on where you stay, you might be able to get on the dunes.. if so do it !!!. as i said, tell me where you are staying, north myrt. south etc.. some courses could be an hour away.. u do not have to drive that far for great golf when u are there if this is your first trip, it will be the first of many !!!

We are staying at the Myrtle Wood Vila's.

We decided to play the wicked stick. We play some tough courses on fri/sat, the guys liked the the course did not seem extremely diificult (in terms or trees/water). The rate was pretty good, so we are going to try it out.
