I've been looking high and low at this game and can honestly say this is a tough call. I originally was thinking HOUS and the UNDER, and possibly playing the same for first five. BUT, this changed my mind...
SUPPAN is no slouch... yes his record vs HOU is not good, but five of the seven times he has faced them, he's also faced the ROCKET, not a good draw, but the same matchup tonite. As much as I'd love to see ROCKET/HOUSTON make it to the WS for the first time, I don't believe we'll see two miracle GAME 7 road team victors back to back, nor can I discount the fact we are talking about THE BEST TEAM OVERALL in all of BASEBALL playing at home, the STL CARDS. If Houston wins, then the MIRACLE SOX would have to share their HISTORY story with the STROS... the baseball gods will not allow this.... We already had a NL WILD CARD win last year, the AL WILD CARD the year before.... the WILD CARD gets trumped tonite and the best team goes on to beat BOSTON in a all RED WORLD SERIES.
Some stats to consider:
SUPPAN is 1-1 in postseason with 3.46 ERA, allowing seven hits and NO DINGERS in 13 innings.
Opponents are only averaging .159 vs SUPPAN with an on base % of .240.
He's allowing only 4.85 hits per nine innings and he has not been wild.
I think you see a very well pitched game tonite, possibly a 1-1, 2-2 type game til late when the tired BPS lose it again for HOUSTON.
