San Diego at Milwaukee (4) 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th
It looks like it?s going to be difficult for MLB to avoid having a division winner with a below .500 mark, but that?s the price one pays for bowing to television and the almighty dollar. The way the Padres are playing on the road (-$285) there is no indication of anything changing this weekend. The Brewers will get even for losing two of three in California. BEST BET: Brewers vs. all but Peavy.
Detroit at Chicago W. Sox (4) 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th
Chicago has won eight of the previous 11 games (+$415) against the Bengals. Detroit?s pitching staff may be shell shocked from playing in Boston and Cleveland prior to this series and even their mediocre offense might take advantage. But, we can?t dismiss the feisty Tigers just because the Sox have been successful against them earlier. Three of their starters (Mike Maroth, Nate Robertson and Jeremy Bonderman) are in the black (+$690) on the road. Take all of them. BEST BET: Bonderman/Maroth/Robertson.
Texas at Kansas City (4) 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th
Everyone is aware of the Royals? protracted losing streak and deservedly so. Quietly, the Rangers have been losing with almost equal regularity on the road where they have dropped 13 of their last 14 and are 7-17 away since the All-Star break. So, who are we supposed to trust when two teams that are playing miserable ball and have awful pitching staffs meet? The answer is trust the fact that both staffs will live up to their expectations. BEST BET: OVER in all games.
