Season 128-120, +3804.5
Pads-105x2.5 (Wood/Tomko)
Rodney Dangerfield would be jealous of the respect Wood is getting on this line. Are the Cubs really as bad as their record indicates? Cubs scored 3 runs on Sammy's 2HR's, had 7 hits but all scattered out. I'm not saying it's his fault, but a couple more weeks like this, and Don Baylor will be history, too. Wood has been the "Wild Thing" so far this year, leading the NL with 24BB. Just his last 10IP he's walked 13!! and gave up 8ER!! Tomko has been outstanding this season, only 2-1 due to lack of run support. He has a 1.30 ERA, with 1.06WHIP, while Wood has WHIP of 1.61. Tomko has given up 1 run or less in 4 of his 5 starts. Pads are 9-2 at home this season and have won 5 of the last 6 vs Chi, including the last 4.
Like the Under, too, but with Wood giving up so many free passes, it's a pass for me.
DRays+130x2.5 (Wilson/Kinney)
Despite losing their last 6, the DRays were competitive with the exception of Lowe's no-no. They let one get away last nite, thanks to the unlikely hero Prince's 2HR's. Wilson has been very durable this year, 6 innings or more in all his starts, 2.89 ERA in 28 IP. Kinney had a bad outing last time in Detroit, 4ER in 3IP before he got yanked. TB belted out 10 hits, but couldn't get a key hit to drive in runs after the 3rd inning. Minny is strickened with injuries, and it's likely to catch up to them. DRays should be able to avoid a 4 game sweep here, and get back on the winning track behind Wilson. Guardado has closed all 3 games in this series, while Jackson and Romero have appeared in 2, while Zambrano is the only one who's appeared in more than 1 game from the DRay pen.
Marlins+100x1.5 (Penny/Pearce)
Cardinals are cold right now, 5-11 their last 16 overall. Pearce has to have a good outing before I can back him, he has not lasted more than 4 so far in his starts 7ER in 8.1IP. Penny is a better pitcher going agains a young 'un and a cold offense.
Brewers+100x2 (Rusch/Millwood)
I still think the Brewers can win the series here, especially having Rusch on the mound vs Millwood. Atl has scored 4 runs or less in 15 of last 18 games, and Rusch should make that 16. Millwood last 5 starts vs Mil 0-2, 7.96, and is sporting a 4.5ERA and 1.31 WHIP.
GOOD LUCK!!
