my 2 cents on every game today:

Milwaukee Wash 12:05 Blazek (Scherzer - Blazek 1st big league start, age 28, had 2.43 ERA in 55 2/3 innings in 2015 for the Brewers...2016 had some injuries....as starter this season in minors, went 2.89 ERA in 10 Triple-A starts..with the big club this season he had one run (zero earned) on five hits in 6.1 innings pitched, he's pitching for an extended tour in the rotation, due to Brewers' injuries, but he most probably won't out there too long today and we'll see plenty of Brewers' bad bullpen...Scherzer almost never has two shaky starts in a row, WA is 6-0 in his starts this season after they lost one with him starting, so: under 5 innings, parlay WA with ? Cubs? or WA RL? (5 of last 7 times WA won with Scherzer starting covered the RL, and last 5 of 7 WA wins overall covered RL) ...gonna take RL

Angels Cleveland 12:10 JC Ramirez (Bauer - two real up and down starters - what with the bats on both teams heating up, that means take the over despite Hamari...with Cleveland on big win streak, battling for pennant and know needs wins in this stretch vs sub .500 clubs, and better/more consistent bats, gotta lean to Cleve win, but that means get the sweep, tho Angels have lost 11 last 12 vs Cleve and Bauer (tho not best form of late) is from LA area, he always gets it up against Angels.

Oakland Toronto 12:37 Manaea (Stroman - Manaea been excellent on road last few months until last start...Stroman 1.37 ERA in his 4 July starts - but that troublesome blister could take him out any time, the Blue Jays are 10-4 in his last 14 starts, but do lose if they have problems getting runs, offense not what it used to be, seem to lose a few after winning a few games, not get ahead in this dissapointing season... Oakland lost 11 last 12, but been winning last game of series of late to avoid sweeps..liking Manaea do better, taking under 5 innings and Oak to win

Tampa Bay Yankees 7:05 Archer (Sabathia - under 5 innings!...yep, pitcher duel considering recent form and recent records these starters vs opposition...this current TB lineup is #1 in MLB SO vs lefties. CC not have the stuff he used to, but has been getting it done in last several starts, and lately vs TB (tho not go deep)...Last 3 CC home starts went under, both pens decent of late...Yanks are 18-6 last 24 meets in thier stadium

Cincinnati Miami 7:10 Stephenson (O'Grady - O'Grady had bit of command issues his last start, due to humidity he claims, but roof should be closed today and with his newly-learned adjustments means today's heat shouldn't be a problem, he is good at keeping the runs down...Stephenson has better command and secondary pitches than his (poor) last season, but it not show up in results last start...I did advocate under when these guys went against each other last week, but with batters more familiar with them and that Miami offense last night just might carry something over, not to mention Cinci is 9-26 in their last 35 road games, looking at Miami and over today.

Arizona St. Louis 7:15 Godley (Weaver - Zack Godley's been pitching well, and his peripheral stats here show he's the real deal, his 3.10 FIP is better than Robbie Ray's or Greinke's!....Weaver has pitched 3 innings, allowed 3 hits and no runs with STL this season (two bullpen appearances) but he tore it up at AAA this year, 9-1 in 13 starts, 1.91 ERA, 0.96 WHIP. His big league tour last season not so good, but seems to have learned from that and found his confidence, so many scouts expect there's a good chance of a Berrios-like turnaround and performance ahead....so under 5 innings...and erratic STL team usually screws me when I go against them, but are playing well, and are 5-2 last 7 series openers, so I'll take a flier on them today.

Chi. Cubs White Sox 8:10 Lester (Pelfrey - Lester real fine last 2 starts, can he keep it going?.. Pelfry decent his last 2, but only in terms of ER - lotta walks, not pitch deep...I dunno, CWS been bad (won 1 game since All Star, 0-6 at home since then), so have not much to play for except get it up against their cross-town rivals...but I expect Lester to continue his excellence vs rotten teams (CWS and Cubs way different now when last time Lester/Pelfry pitched a couple times vs them, so those records not relevant).. Cubs take advantage of a wild Pelfry...

N.Y. Mets San Diego 9:10 Flexen (Perdomo - Flexen tore it up in Class A St. Lucie and Double-A Binghamton as expected, sporting a 6-1 with a 1.76 ERA, only walking 10 all season. and zero homers! Good fastball with 3 decent other pitches. But now leaps from double A to the Big Club. He was gonna start with the Big Club after spring, but got injured. Now he gets his debut vs the bats in their pitcher's park. But is a road start, and SD been batting way better of late. Perdomo's numbers not all that great vs teams who can hit, and tho Mets not on any post season run, you can't tell that from their recent play...So lean to MY here, expecting close game decided by late inning who-knows-what play.
