Milw at CHI CUBS
Apparently the wind has shifted in CHICAGO as they've posted a line of 7.5 a day after 19 runs are scored...
Now I know the wind accounts for alot in WRIGLEY, but seriously, is this too low for two sub .500 pitchers??
HP UMP Layne is 13-10 O/U and 15-8 HT which bodes well for CHICAGO and OVER. The interesting part is, LAYNE'S last SEVEN games have all GONE OVER
with the home team winning, and 8 of his last ten have gone OVER, with the AWAY team winning both games that went UNDER. Ironically, both game won by visiting teams involved a DAVIS. DAVIS of CINCY beat Hermanson 3-1, and DAVIS of TEX beat HUDSON at OAK, 2-1, both games back in JUNE. Granted, not many games involved top notch pitchers, but APPIER was involved in that streak as was MADDUX. He was also behind the plate on MONDAY when the CUBS won 7-4 with LIEBER. He's UMPED 10 Milw games over the past 3 seasons, and MILW is 2-8 in those games. HAYNES is 0-2, while Tavarez is 0-1, the CUBS 5-5 in the last ten with LAYNE behind the plate.
I realize HAYNES has a tremendous O/U record on the road at 3-11, but it's due more to lack of run support than his stellar pitching. He does have a very nice 3.15 ERA on the road, but we're looking at a total of 7.5 today, not 9 or 9.5.
TAVAREZ is starting to struggle after a very nice stretch for him. He'll be going on 3 day's rest and only lasted 3 innings last time after going 5.33 and 2.33 prior to that. He was terrible at home vs COLORADO, and appeared totally out of sync.
CUBS OVER 7.5 -110 ** DOUBLE PLAY **
CUBS -155
I see LAYNE's trend continueing here, as the CUBS have to be juiced about yesterday's game and want to keep that momentum going. SOSA is red hot and unlike MAC, he'll go the other way if the wind is too strong to go deep. CUBS WIN! CUBS WIN!! FINAL: 6-4
