Well here are my first post's for baseball this year!
Texas (Davis/Lidle) +130 Well I think the Rangers stop the bleeding today on the arm od Davis who has given the A's fits in the past as they did not hit lefties real well last year and are looking like they are going to have a little trouble this year, so far they are only batting .182 as a team against them versus .292 against righties. Davis faced the A's 3 times last year winning all three starts with a very impressive ERA of 2.00 in those starts and he had a pretty good spring pitching 24.2 innings with an ERS of 3.65 striking out 16 and walking 9. On the other mound we have Corey Lidle who has had allot of trouble against the Rangers he had 3 starts against them last year going only 2.1 innings in his first start against them and splitting the other two games with a 5.00 ERA in those starts, he had a bumpy spring pitching 28.2 innings with an ERA of 6.28 striking out only 14 and walking 4, So I look for the Rangers to get the bats going and for Davis to keep the A's in check enough to get the win.
Toronto (Mays/Halladay) -110 Well we had a couple nice wins with the Twins in KC but today we are going against them as Joe Mays has had a very tough time against the Blue Birds losing his last 3 starts against them with an ERA of 3.33 in those three starts, he had a very good spring going 27 innings with an ERA of 2.00 striking out 21 and walking only 4. His opposition has given the Twins allot of trouble he had two starts against them last year and won both with an ERA of 1.00, he had a solid spring pitching 28 innings with an ERA of 3.86 striking out 17 and only 4 walks. The Blue Jays are really hitting the ball allot better than the Twins and face a pitcher they have had success against so I will take the Jays to get the win!
St. Louis (Thomson/Benes) -140 Well the Birds got de feathered yesterday as I thought they might as Neagle had given them fits in the past but today the pitches should get a little easier to hit. Colorado sends J. Thomson to the mound who had a decent spring pitching 24 innings with an ERA of 3.38 with 17 strikeouts and 5 walks but has a 0-2 record in his last 2 against the Cards with an ERA of 3.50. Andy Benes gets the starting nod today and he had a very impressive spring going 23 innings with a solid ERA of 2.35 fanning 19 and walking 9, he has allot of success against the Rockies as a Cardinal he 4-1 against them with the only loss coming in the hitter friendly thin air of Colorado his ERA in those starts is 3.40. I look for the Cards to get the hot bats going again today and bring the Rockies back down to earth after the loss last night!
