First things first, my apologies to those who followed my touting the Dodgers. Nomo's fastball topped out at 84mph (WTF?), obviously didn't have his wheaties yesterday morning. The reports all through out spring all said that he had great stuff, don't know what happened. And when Mulholland came on, I knew the game was over. Still had a chance for a +Units day until Foulke blew a 3 run lead bot 9th. Hopefully better luck today.

Looking at one game at a time, so will be adding through out the day.

Mets/Pitt Under8.5 +105 (Anderson/Estes)
Going Under one more time, it was evident that the Mets bats still have not awaken, and with the combination of the anemic Pitt offense, I'll take the Under at +105. Pitt got 2 gift runs, at least IMHO, when Valentine decided to pitch to Reese with the pitcher on deck and 1st base open.
Additional info: Wind (~10mph) is blowing out to center/right but should not be a factor. Anderson and Estes both have stellar history vs Mets and Pirates, respectively. Rapuano behind the plate today, 20-15 on Over/Under last year.

Good luck Everyone

FWIW, O/U is 9 at Skybook and Canbet.

Personally I like the Over today. It's sunny but fairly cool here today in NYC which IMO should favor the batters. Mets and Piazza are due for a break-out game. Alfonso is hitting the ball real well. Also Pitt's best hitter, Giles, is expected to be back in the line-up today. The teams combined for 8 yesterday in windy/rainy conditions.

Thanks, fellers:D Good Luck to you.

Not the smoothest morning, hope it's not a sign of things to come today. Having internet access problem all morning, and struggled to get the rest of the write-ups up, had a long write-up, but my son came running over and with one push of a button......as MadJack would say...*****poof*****. Here's the gist.

Tx/Oak Over9.5 -110 (Davis/Lidle)
Lidle career ERA over 7 vs Tx, over 8 in April in his career.
Davis 4-1 career vs Oak, ERA over 6 April.

Tx+140 (Davis/Lidle)
With above number, and Tx trying to avoid a season opening sweep, plus +140. Call me crazy, I'll try it.

StL-140 (Benes/Thomson)

Det/TB Over 9.5 (Rupe/Lima)
Lima terrible numbers last 2 years. Even worse in April
Rupe just as bad
Also agree with most cappers on here about games going over with #3, 4 starter on the mound.

What the heck is going on in StL? 5 runs on 4 hits for Col, 1 run on 8 hits for Loui?

Trying an afternoon hedge........

Toronto -110 (Halladay/Mays) and Under9 -110 (listed)

Last night's rain out allowed the Jays to get home at a reasonable hour to get some rest for the season Home Opener (also a Guranteed Win game in Toronto, you get another ticket for a future home game if the Jays lose :D).
Hallady looked sharp in the spring (3.8 ERA) as well as Mays (4-0, ERA of 2)
Both pitchers with impressive stats vs respective teams, Halladay 2-0, 2 ER's in 14 IP, and Mays 1-3 ERA < 3 (0-2, 5 ER's allowed in 19 IP's in Skydome)
Last time Jays lost a season opener was in '97

GLAll:toast: Batter up!

Great call on the Mets/Pirates under! You were right on $$$$. With lineups like the Mets and Cardinals how can they not be hitting the heck out of the ball! Good luck

Hey old Buddy , our Dodgers are sure looking good. Almost as good as the Boiler b-ball team. Hell, I'm already thinking about the start of football from a fans perspective. Here in Indiana we're still getting the IU B.S. shoved down our throats in the media. (enough is enough for crying out loud.) Been on a real bad loosing streak since last sat. Might just coatail some for a while cause my picks aren't worth a damn. GOOD LUCK!

Thanks, jakejj and Boiler.

Boiler, WHAT UP!! Sorry about the Dodger pick. Nothing disgusts me more than having persuaded someone to take my pick only to lose the way they did. Really think that homer by Bonds shook up Nomo big time, and he just couldn't recover. The Dodgers showed no patience at the plate, either, Ortiz didn't look that impressive to me, but the Dodgers were just hacking away. Very disappointed in deed. When does Boiler football start again? :D

Be careful piggybacking me, though. Spending tons of time gathering info, stats, weather, blah blah blah, hasn't seemed to payoff too much. Hopefully things will change. :D

Late card..........

Cinci +120 (Acevedo/Cruz) and Over9 (listed)
Cruz has electric stuff when he's on, and a big time strikeout pitcher, lots of potential. Problem is that he reported UNDERweight this spring at 150lbs(WTF? how did that happen, thought they fatten up like David Wells usually does :D) His control wasn't there all spring. 0-1, 6.33 ERA, opp BA .303, 11BB!!, 15ER, 27H in 21IP. Acevedo's numbers were similarly pathetic, only fewer BB(6). Cruz will improve as the season goes on and he hits the weight room. But I think Cinci can get to him tonite, especially after seeing the oustanding pitches Woods offered them last nite.

Good Luck:toast:

Last week? Wow, can't wait.

More............Gotta run, the condensed version.

Marlins-110 (Penny/Pavano)
Both have outstanding stuff, both had excellent spring. But the home game is like a road game for the Expos. Marlins have more firepower. Penny is a better pitcher.

Philly+1.5-140 (Adams/Marquis)
Was going to take Philly ML, but I agree with you that Philly can stay close, this is a higher percentage play. Watched Adams all last year as a Dodger, feel that he's very underrated as a pitcher. Now 2nd season as SP, he's out to prove the Dodgers they made a mistake.

Dodgers-110 (Perez/Jensen) 0.5Unit (Dodger fan play)
Key to a win tonite? WALK BONDS EVERY AB!!! :D

Good Luck Boiler, and Everyone

I must be insane, because looks like I'm all alone on this pick.

LA/SF Under8.5 +105 (Jensen/Perez)

Both had good spring numbers. Perez excellent K/BB ratio, Jensen not bad. Don't expect SanTiago and Jensen to hit homers tonite. Even if Bonds goes off again and hits 2 more. The way the Dodger bats are hitting, it'll end up 6-1, 6-2 type of game.

Good Luck
