hit the stronger st.johns play, but p1ssed away the wednesday profit on some awful follow-up plays. for thursday, played:

2 units....st.johns (-1) over boston college
2 units....kent/marshall under 146.5
2 units....ucla (+14.5) over arizona
2 units....clemson (pk) over florida state

really just see no reason to go against st.johns. i think that 2h scare keeps them focused and reminds them that they cant let up if they get a lead. kind of a "beneficial scare" from the irish in the 2h. line also says st.johns as well. boston college is one of the top seeds, and getting points in this game right off the bat. not to mention johnnies are layin points after getting swept in the season series. but- oh, that third time around should be the charm for the hot johnnies.

marshall loves to score- but the only way theyre gonna stay in the game is by being smart with the ball. line is a little inflated since eastern michigan played a track meet with marshall in the opening round a few nights ago. but emu plays track meets with everyone. kent was a tired team a month ago. now, they come in extremely rested, having played only one game in the last12 days. flashes should really establish the tempo and this one should be played in the high 60's.

might be suicide, but im giving the bruins a chance here. not only did they get swept in the season series, but they got absolutely embarrassed both games. if this team has any balls, they will keep this one fairly close. ucla actually in off of some confidence building wins over washington state and washington- albeit the latter in comeback fashion. just dont see the wildcats taking them very seriously here. zona should win by 10 or 11.

clemson should win the play-in game for the acc. both teams have been lame this year (which i guess is why theyre in the play-in game) but clemson at least has a go-to guy and a legitimate scorer in edward scott. simply put- thats enough to get me to consider clemson here. either team will just be a sacrificial lamb in the next round- but one team has some offense, the other has none. clemson has the offense. fsu defense is respectable and worth noting, but i just dont think theyll score enough to win.

adding: hawaii (-1) over rice
really not a whole lot of in-depth analysis here. sometimes, you just gotta find a way to win, and hawaii has been a good tourney team the last few years in the wac. just feel like theyll get the win here, and thats all they need to do to cover

world may come to an end tonight. ucla actually showed resiliency in the 2h when they could have folded. nice to see a team with talent finally play to the level theyre capable of.
