I'm no Ace but I'm coming off two nice wins in Penn and Niagara the L2 nights.

Not sure how much I can add to Box and One's write-up:

Iona +1.5 over Rider
Wrong team is favored.I had Iona -2 or 3.Iona is much quicker, more athletic, and explosive.Fast gds can stay with Johnson.Rider won a few in a row but then blew a game the other day.Iona starts 4 freshmen and they play like typical NYC cathlolic league players.
Iona wins outright.

A couple of more thoughts:

1. Rider's stud Johnson is still not 100% after bruising his right knee in the Feb 3 vs Siena. His leg was bandaged last time out and his injury was a factor in their loss to St. Peter's.

2. Rider has no depth, especially compared with Iona. Rider's starters have been playing 30+ minutes/game, they really only have 2 other guys to come in off the bench. This time of year that means tired legs, esp. in 2H, like Canisius last nite.

3. In the game in Nov between these two, Iona led almost the whole way and was up 16 at one point. Rider never really was in the game.

4. Iona has won 4 of 5 in Lawrenceville.

5. Iona is a different and IMO a better team than the one that faced Rider in Nov. Center Jenkins went out for the season just after that game; he was the centerpiece of the Iona offense when he was in the line-up (he was 8-12 vs Rider). Now Fields, Smith and others have stepped up and IMO Iona is a more dangerous team now.

6. Iona has played well on the road; they've lost to better home teams like Fairfield and Niagara and beaten those that they should.

7. Iona needs this game to stay in the MAAC race more than Rider.

With you on Iona. See Rider has been more effective on the road anyway.

I know you're chomping at the bit to discuss that Fairfield/Manhattan game. See Manhattan crusing again personally, but always wary of double digits when a team is on a streak like this. Fairfield played a pretty darn good game the first time around and still lost.

Any thoughts?

Jon I agree with you here. I have Iona as a 20 point Power rating edge. Rider's gym can be a scary place but The wrong team is favored and I can't overlook that.

Pistol --

Road team has won 4 of L5 between these two.

Last nite I went to the computer to play Manhattan -11.5 and when I entered my bet Oly must have been real busy because it didn't take it (this happens every now and again).

When this happens to me I take it as a sign not to make the play...might sound crazy but I can't tell you how many losing bets this has saved me from making.

Manhattan has covered double digits vs Rider, Marist and Canisius but Fairfield is better than those teams.

Seems with everyone on Manhattan I should see some line movement? (same worry with Iona)

So with all that said I'm putting a little beer money on Fairfield ML @ +500

I'm done with Hofstra. Those guys are headcases and are not predictable.

That's why I like the Ivy; they're not great athletes but they're all smart guys and for the most part they don't play stupid. Makes the games more predictable IMO.

See what I mean about the computer jinx? That beer money play on the ML helps to bail me out of the hole Iona put me in.
