NYR/NJ under 5.5 (-120)
In their last 8 games, the Rangers have scored an average of exactly 1.00 goal per game. New Jersey has gone over 5.5 only 3 times in their last 10 games, and they have held their opponent to just one goal in 4 of their last 10 games. Brodeur is the type of goalie that seems to perform well when he faces a higher number of shots (he gave up 5 goals on 17 shots against TB last time out). This Ranger team routinely takes more than 30 shots per game and that seems to be where Brodeur is at his best, when he has a lot of pucks flying at him. Being a divisional game, these two teams will be going at it pretty hard and I expect plenty of mucking it up along the boards. I don't expect there to be many wide open plays, more of a dump & chase and grind it out type of game.
One more tidbit in favor of the under is that we get two refs that lean strongly to the under. McGeough is 14-20 o/u with a 4.80 GPG average. Schick is 10-23 o/u with a 4.44 GPG average.
