I hope that you are all having a great week as well. My Internet connection is very bad today so I will post my selections now and do my update in the morning. Here are my selections:
Boston College +13.5 -110 (10 Units)
Boston College under 45.5 -108 (5 Units)
There is little question in my mind that Virginia Tech should win this game outright, but the number is out of whack with the realities of what these two teams can do, and how they play. Boston College 6-1 SU, 4-3 ATS is one of the outstanding defensive teams in football and has lost only to Florida, State, 28-17. The Eagles are ranked 8th of 119 teams on total defense, giving up just 272.71 yards per game. They are 6th against the score, surrendering 14.0 points per outing. Virginia Tech leads the nation in scoring defense, giving up just 9.0 points per game and is ranked 2nd defensively, giving up just 235.5 yards per game. This means that this game has defensive struggle written all over it and that makes the +13 we are getting with Boston College a far bigger bonus that the figures say we merit. On the basis of talent and opponents played, Boston College has quality wins at BYU, at Clemson and at home against Virginia and certainly has talent. Virginia Tech has a slight talent edge on both sides of the ball, plus the home field advantage, but this is by far the toughest opponent the Hokies have played this season and they host Miami next week. Everything simply points to a Boston College cover.
Good Day & Good Luck!
