parlay will be posted in a bit, as I haven't finished looking at the late games yet!...But it will have Bosox RL and Yanks RL and Oakland
N.Y. Mets/Washington-1:05 pm deGrom (Strasburg -- Ace deGrom being deGrom his start last week. Injury is the reason Thor was opening day starter instead of deGrom. Back stiffness they said, and his pitch count did run up quickly last week, I think he'll be better paced here, but these are the powerful WA bats, but he is 5-1 lifetime here...MLB.com does report after his last start "deGrom improved to 18-8 with a 1.98 ERA -- baseball's lowest in more than a century -- in day games"...Stras Ace-like in his last start, except for too many baserunners (1.50 WHIP just about)...Nats won 13 of 19 matchups vs Mets last season....I'm on under 5 innings and Nats whole game as they definitely better offense.
Tampa Bay/Boston-2:05 pm Chirinos (Price -- Chirinos listed, but really a typical Rays bullpen day. Chirinos' big-league debut Sunday was 4 scoreless innings in relief (had 1.075 WHIP in minors). Yarbrough or Kittredge coulda been the listed pitcher today, but Chirinos earned it....I like under 5 innings as Price masterful in his first start after injury season, 7.0 IP, 0 ER, 4 Hits, 0 BBs, 5 Ks with 76 pitches- gotta like that!!...and current TB roster pretty terrible against him (I forgot the number)..and Price has to atone before home fans for the Dennis Eckersley brouhaha.....Boston RL big time! - big home opener today and Boxsox offense clicking.
Miami/Philadelphia-3:05 pm Smith (Pivetta --Smith 5.1 inn, 1 ER + 8 Ks last week - pretty impressive, he has nice mix he can change up on guys 2nd time around, but not really dominant - probably mix of fine and mediocre starts going forward. 10 appearances last season he had 1.58 WHIP...Considering poor Phila bats, prolly decent today.... Pivetta - 6.02 ERA + 1.51 WHIP last season (stronger at start of season) and last week 4 inn, 3 ER, 3k - but better fastball command now, that might herald more upside, he got shaky later in start...so I like under 5 innings, sort of, as Doug Pederson gonna throw out the ceremonial first pitch, and Harry Kalas' son gonna sing the national anthem, Villanova team parade tomorrow - these mighties could snap Gabe Kapler into being intelligent today.
Texas/Oakland-3:35 pm Perez (Mengden -- Perez off DL now, claim he healthy, we'll see....Mengden 5 ER in 5.2 innings Sat, but plenty problems due to bad defense behind him. He had 1.54 ERA his last several starts to end last season, and has done well vs these TX bats...Oakland playing well now....so I'm on Oakland
Colorado/San Diego-3:40 pm Anderson (Lucchesi -- Anderson 6-6 last season, with a 4.81 ERA + 1.33 WHIP and nearly SO per inning, and finished strong 1.19 ERA in Sept - but then he had no command last week (2+1/3 innings and 7 ER, 4 walks!). He's always done well against Padres tho....Lucchesi war ok in his MLB debut after 1st inning, some flashes of talent which produced that 0.97 WHIP in the minors, seems me best going forward is such OK starts mixed with poor ones. He won't go deep and those CO bats, definitely way better than Padres', will be a lot of that Padres bullpen so I am on the Rockies and Over
Detroit/Chi. White Sox-4:10 pm Zimmermann (Shields -- Zimmermann claims his neck his pain free (had nerve block injection) after 2 years of giving him trouble. He went six innings and gave up six hits and four runs but 8 SO and only 1 walk, 81 pitches, last week, so might be on the mend... big game Shields in CWS home opener, he open himself real shaky last week, then settled down and pitched ok. That's Shields - a tight rope walk away from disaster....so I expect a close high-scoring game, winner decided by batting late off some bullpen guy who is unexpectedly bad, hence I'm on the over and which team is the plus money when I put in my bet (looks like Tigers)
