Thunder so I take it you already know keenum will start or you think they win even if he does not start. Concussions are tricky and you never know it the doctors will clear him.
Late Sunday afternoon, University of Houston head coach Kevin Sumlin held a teleconference concerning quarterback Case Keenum?s injury during Friday evening?s game against UTEP.
Other topics were discussed, but the main point of the teleconference was Keenum.
Below is a transcription of Sumlin?s comments:
"Let me start off with the question that everyone wants me to address, and that is Case Keenum?s health. Most people saw that he was injured in the game Friday night and at that time was displaying symptoms of a mild concussion. But since then his condition has improved dramatically.
"We, like every college and pro team in America, has a concussion management plan that we have followed since Saturday morning. I am not going to go into details of what that entails, but I will say that his prognosis for this week is day-to-day."
Keenum was inured in the third quarter after a pass was intercepted by UTEP?s TraVaun Nixon.
He attempted to make a tackle on the play and was slow to get up. He left the game after going 15-of-24 for 265 yards and one interception.
Backup quarterback Cotton Turner entered the game and quickly took over where Keenum left off.
He went 9-of-10 for 69 yards in the air with one touchdown, leading the Cougars to a 54-24 win over the Miners.
A decision on Keenum?s status will be on a day-to-day basis.
