4-1 yesterday, now 60-42 overall, narrowly missed goal of 60% for the first 100 plays. one early play:
cws/oak over 8-: garland has been shelled for an 8.22 era in two career appearances vs oakland, including last week in chicago. his era is 6.53 this year, and has a career 5.21 era on the road, 5.30 in day games. oakland is averaging 5.5 rpg at home against righties this year, and it is hard for me to imagine that they won't get to him today. joe west can be somewhat erratic behind the plate, but neither one of these starters are strikeout pitchers, and both issue a fair amount of walks, so i believe it unlikely that the ump will play a decisively role in this game. white sox offense on the road concerns me somewhat, especially against lefties, but they fared ok yesterday vs lilly, and got to halama last week in chicago. i will probably play oakland also as i feel somewhat secure in feeling that the a's will get their runs today, and if the game stays under, it will be because the white sox go flat. just can't see the sox taking this series in oakland. good stiff wind out to right field today also.
