I like Okland too but a couple things bother me. First I have gone against my gut a few time this offseason and all three times I have lost. Last night I told myself before the game to watch the total because the A's know how to win in the clutch and the RedSox pen is awful. I knew it and laid off but....still took Pedro at that price.

Today, I look at the matchup. Zito didnt make it outof the 5th the last time he pitched against the Redsox. Oakland's go to closer is most likely NA today. Then again Wakefield has aterrible post season ERA. Combine that with the hot bats of both teams and I like the over today.

What do you think?

I hope I am not stepping on Ray or Thunder's toes by replying in this thread, but 8 1/2 is a high postseason total. It very well may go over, but that total seems inflated by the fact that the teams went long last night. Remember that position players have to play long in extra inning games as well and with both benches being so thin, there may not be as much of an advantage vs. these staffs as it would appear. On my scorecard Foulke is the only casualty from yesterday. If you liked the over before last night's game at today's number with these two pitchers going, then by all means go for it. If your play is just a reaction to last night's game going long, then I would at least recommend looking closely to make sure you are not giving that angle too much sway.

with a bad boston bullpen and alot bullpen work last nite . and a great hitting team like boston 8.5 may be too low , lean over

WAKEFIELD is 4-3 when starting against OAKLAND with an ERA of 5.47 and a WHIP of 1.481.His team's record is 9-5 (+2.9 units) in these starts. The OVER is 7-7. (-0.8 units)

Wakefield (R) - Boston 6-2 Over last eight games
