Lowe was cruising through five scoreless innings on only one hit in his last outing, but the roof fell in during the sixth against the Reds. Nonetheless, he's been pretty consistent, as that ERA would indicate. Lowe's never faced the Cardinals during the regular season, but he did earn the win in Game 4 of last year's World Series as a member of the Red Sox .
Carpenter issued an uncharacteristic five walks in his last start, equal to his total from his previous four games. He's had two rough starts this year, and they've both come in day games at home -- which Thursday's game will also be . That doesn't mean he'll get rocked, but it's something worth watching
