Atlanta at San Diego (4) 15th, 16th, 17th, 18th

Name the category and you?ll most likely find the Padres near the bottom of the barrel (.250 team BA, 5.18 ERA). And, here they are playing a good team that is playing great. Worse yet, none of the San Diego starters have been effective recently (6.12 ERA last 10 days. The vastly superior Bravos are white hot (16-3 since April 19) and have the NL?s second best road record (10-5, +$585) BEST BET: Braves at -$165 or less.

Montreal at Colorado (4) 15th, 16th, 17th, 18th

It will be interesting to see whether the Expos? surprisingly effective pitching (3.52 team ERA) can keep it up in Denver where many a team?s pitching staff has been destroyed over the years. The Rockies (11-4, +$925 at home) are up to their old tricks at Coors Field where they are averaging 7.7 runs per game. And the Expos really don?t have one pitcher that has performed well in Colorado over the years, and two of them (Day Ohka) have never even played there. BEST BET: Rockies in all games.

NY Mets at San Francisco (4) 15th, 16th, 17th, 18th

No matter how bad or how good the Mets are in any particular year, they almost never play well in San Francisco. Last year New York was winless vs. the Giants and they have not won a single game in San Francisco (0-10) since 1999. It sure doesn?t look good for a team that is 5-11 (-$670) on the road, does it? New York has two fine starters in Glavine (3.67 ERA) and Leiter (3.26), but the Giants are 3-0 vs. southpaws at home, averaging 6 runs per game while the Mets are scoring just 3.6 per game as visitors. It looks like another lost weekend for the hapless Mets. BEST BET: Giants in all games.
