I don't have a Starnet account but I have set one up - at Sportsbetting.com.
I mentioned to Huckleberry after his post that he may want to hold off betting on Gordon since if he qualifies well his odds will stay the same (can't go below 3/1) but if he qualifies poorly he could possibly get a bit better.
So Gordon qualifies 23rd (mid pack). His odds at Sportsbetting.com 6/1
I give Gordon 10 laps before he's in the top 10 while drivers like Elliot (who they have at 12/1 (Ha!) and Waltrip (who they have at 15/1 (Ha Ha)) are back in the pack. These 2 drivers have distinct horsepower advantages which will not be relevant at the Glen. And neither has ever performed well on a road course.
6/1 on Jeff Gordon - Woo Hoo!!!!! Jump on it boys.
Only drivers with a real chance IMO are
- Gordon, Stewart, Rudd, Robby Gordon and Martin. Possible longshot chances to Harvick, Newman and Busch also. I would have given Johnson a bit of a longshot chance but he blew an engine in practice and will start at the back along with Sterling Marlin. Kenseth is intriguing but he has never performed well on a road course and Rusty just hasn't impressed me enough this year. Jarrett may move up a bit but I doubt he can win and Jeff Burton is really struggling and starts 25th.
