It came without ribbons, it came without tags. It came without packages, boxes or bags. Christmas can't be bought from a store . . . Maybe Christmas means a little bit more. Dr. Seuss
Now it's Christmas that is putting a crimp in my schedule, and this handicapping just can't be a priority. Lucky for me I'm just an amateur enjoying a season of spirited efforts from my gridiron ponies.
For the duration, I'll be barking in the dark with my college bowl plays. Who is playing? I'll examine my initial thoughts and try to improve on those before I pull the trigger. Maybe, "Unload on the Oregon Ducks" (so to speak, at about 1.5*), when the time comes.
On the other hand, with the Packers coming down the stretch, I'll be keenly aware of what the hell's going on in the NFL.
Saturday:
Oakland/San Diego(Under 46.5) @ 1*
I think San Diego wants a slobber knocker. I think Oakland wants to answer in kind. Rodney Harrison at safety this time is a significant development.
Missed Cut:
Arizona(+4.5)
Has the feel of a live dog to me.
Sunday:
Cleveland(-2) @ 2.5*
This is the game that jumps out at me. Jacksonville finally clawed out a victory after a tough stretch of games. Cleveland is a fresh young club that should play with a peak of emotion and a fair amount of confidence in this spot. Cleveland's final home game.
Pittsburgh(+3) @ 1*
Baltimore is showing signs of coming on. Pittsburgh looks to bring more against the champs, including a field goal. (Just wondering why the Ravens were handed a late season bye.)
Tampa Bay(+2.5) @ 1*
Have the Packers knocked the Bears down a notch? Will pixie dust be as conspicuous as it was during a 9-2 stretch? The Bumblin' Bucs should show up for their Norris division swan song, and their will not be brutally inclement weather to make for treacherous sledding.
Kansas City(Pick) @ 1*
A fun match-up. It will probably be on local TV.
Missed Cut:
Detroit(+3); Atlanta(+4); Philadelphia(-2.5); New England(-4); Seattle(-5); New Orleans(+6)
Found something to like in all of those games.
Fa-la-la-la-la,
la-la-la-la.
