TODAY AT HOLLYWOOD PARK

By Richard Eng

Post Time 7:05 p.m.

Race 1 - 7 furlongs, Purse $21,000, Claiming $20,000, 3-year-olds

Defense King - Unless I'm throwing good money after bad, I think he's got a big race in him; claimed by O'Neill.

White Lace Jimmy - Solid late brush in last to just miss; he's proven to me he fits well in this category.

Long Shot - More Than Class

Race 2 - 1 1/16th miles, Purse $30,000, Maiden claiming $80,000, 3-year-olds and up

Enriched - Taking the biggest class drop in racing from MSW to maiden claiming; best race was on synthetics.

Hold Fast - Ran miserably in last; racing first time for a price tag, his prior races were much faster.

Long Shot - Congaree Park

Race 3 - 6 furlongs, Purse $30,000, Claiming $32,000, 3-year-olds

Lordgivemealift - While Jeff Mullins is on suspension, assistant Ral Ayers gets the nod; can sit a perfect trip.

Leavethegateopen - Sliding down the claiming ladder to this very winable level; speed to possibly steal it.

Long Shot - Beam Me Up Topper

Race 4 - 1 1/16th miles, Purse $22,000, Claiming $20,000, 3-year-olds and up

Hunter Creek - Sliding down the claiming ladder to this new career low; won twice facing similar over the winter.

Royal Seal - Was completely overmatched last time on turf; returns to synthetic and right class level.

Long Shot - Stylin Cat

Race 5 - 1 1/16th miles (turf, rail at 15 feet), Purse $48,000, Maiden special weights, Cal-breds, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up

Mama Rosa - Improved a lot in second career start and first time on turf; a typical Unusual Heat get.

Catsalot - Been knocking at the door and is long overdue; Brice Blanc will sit chilly and make one run.

Long Shot -Ruffled Feathers

Race 6 - 7 1/2 furlongs, Purse $13,000, Claiming $12,500, 3-year-olds and up

Craig's Storm - Been knocking on the door in his last two starts; like the subtle turn back in distance.

Doggie Bear - Big drop in class from an open $25K to this NW2L; big rider switch to Joe Talamo.

Long Shot - Engine Sixty Nine

Race 7 - 1 mile (turf, rail at 15 feet), Purse $50,000, Allowance, 3-year-olds and up

Cavanal - For forgiving handicappers; his last race stunk, but his prior races are fast enough to win.

Carona Time - All out win in last, he's proven to be a faster horse on grass; will sit and make one run.

Long Shot - Mr. Big

Race 8 - 7 furlongs, Purse $15,000, Maiden claiming $25,000, 3-year-olds and up

Dirt Diver - Interesting trainer switch to Paul Aguirre; adds blinkers on off a decent debut run.

Leavin in a Limo - Disappointing effort in last; Brian Koriner adds blinkers on for a heads up try.

Long Shot - Sovereign Lor

Best Bet - Enriched (race 2)

Hollywood Thursday- Picks/Winners/Mutuels, 15/5/$45.40; Long Shots, 8/2/$17.20; Best Bet, 1/0/$0
