TODAY AT HOLLYWOOD PARK

By Richard Eng

Post Time 7:05 p.m.

Race 1 - 1 1/16th miles, Purse $48,000, Maiden special weights, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up

Bread 'n Water - Took money in hidden pools despite 12/1 win odds; made a big middle move before tiring in midstretch.

She's Borracho - Logical chalk in an open race; ran fine as a beaten chalk in last, goes 2-turns for the first time.

Long Shot - Sweeterthantheday

Race 2 - 6 furlongs, Purse $13,000, Claiming $12,500, 3-year-olds and up

Draft Choice - Speed does well in the cool night air in Inglewood; John Sadler drop down plays catch me if you can.

A Dubai - Dead late closer could see a positive race shape to rally into; Aaron Gryder will sit a trip and make one run.

Long Shot - Mister Flips

Race 3 - 6 1/2 furlongs, Purse $11,000, Claiming $8,000, 3-year-olds and up

Watch Over Me - Claimed by Craig Lewis and spotted nicely to win; has back class where he should repeat a good race.

Something Sonic - Speedball has shown only one way of going, fast; sliding down the claiming ladder to this low level.

Long Shot - I Am Madison's

Race 4 - 7 furlongs, Purse $15,000, Maiden claiming $25,000, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up

Moon Over Malibu - Taking a big class drop from MSW to maiden claiming; like the turn back in distance to this elongated sprint.

Justalittletipsy - Speedy sort in a race lacking real firepower; another turning back in distance from 2-turns to sprint.

Long Shot - Village Lady

Race 5 - 1 1/16th miles (turf, rail at 10 feet), Purse $35,000, Claiming $40,000, 3-year-olds and up

Cee Bargara - He may have lost a step, so dropping into the class is a wise move; has more back class than most of these.

Mr. Katz - Tepid chalk in a very difficult heat; beaten lesser in last, but you always need to respect a last out winner.

Long Shot - Crafty Power

Race 6 - 6 furlongs, Purse $19,000, Claiming $25,000, 3-year-olds and up

Public Image - You always get value when a horse has something happen last time; big rider switch to red hot Tyler Baze.

No Sweat - Dead late closer draws a good parking lot post to stalk from; expect Agapito to sit chilly and make one run.

Long Shot - No Prodigal

Race 7 - 5 1/2 furlongs, $60,000 Lawndale, Fillies and mares, 4-year-olds and up

Queen Ofthe Catsle - Been away 7-months, but she did her best work in Inglewood; closers do better in turf sprints.

Reba Is Tops - Mare has done her best work around 1-turn; appears adept on turf, dirt or synthetic, good tactical speed.

Long Shot - Porto Marmay

Race 8 - 5 1/2 furlongs, Purse $15,000, Maiden claiming $25,000, 3-year-olds and up

Drake Lake - Sliding down the claiming ladder to this career low class; tactical speed to mix it up early on.

Barney Bass - Was outgunned early last time, but closed well in the lane; he may have discovered a better style.

Long Shot - Astoria Renter

Best Bet - Draft Choice (race 2)

Hollywood Thursday- Picks/Winners/Mutuels, 16/5/$28.00; Long Shots, 6/0/$0; Best Bet, 1/1/$6.00

Hollywood Totals - 243/59/$424.80; Long Shots, 127/21/$234.00; Best Bets, 14/4/$17.40

SIMULCAST PICK OF THE DAY - #5 Gatorette (7/2) in race 11 at Pimlico. For scoring purposes, we'll make a hypothetical $2 win, place and show bet, $6 total. On Thursday, Pagan Ruler ran out at Belmont Park. Stats - 68/54/$410.80
