Do you think Coughlin being around Jacksonville every day gives them any edge? Not a season long edge, but specifically to this week's matchup?

I never thought much about it....but he is 2-0 in superbowls vs this new england regime. And he always played them tough in the regular-season matchups as well...

He obviously has a formula that can beat Brady and he has proven he can hold him to 13 or 17 points in big games by creating pressure and Chaos in the backfield

And while this defense doesn't necessarily have the pass rush that those giants teams did they have a elite secondary and speed like not many others have, ecspecially at the linebacker position.

Does he make you re-think it? Because I am right now.

Good points.....if you can execute the perfect game plan to try and slow down and disrupt NE offense that's the only chance, but can they execute it? Outside personal can only do so much and prepare. Games played on the field players have to execute.

The absolute ONLY WAY Jags have a shot is getting to Brady knocking him down and putting pressure ALL GAME! That D line is the make or break for Jacksonville IMO throw out everything else. But, if they are on their game you know Pats will adjust and have Brady releasing the ball quicker to Lewis, White and those quick WR's on little swings passes all day NE will adjust that's why Jags D line has got to be consistent with speed all game! Can they do it?? Not sure......

I just feel the game where Jags went to SF and got man handled by Garrapolo that's perfect tape for NE to beat this team and have many plays ready to roll out for any adjustments they need to make throughout the game. I also don't see Bortles playing two flawless playoff games in a row on the road that's a little much to ask for he will make some mistakes

Yea that was a long trip out west to San Fran ...I don't think we saw the Jags best effort. But I agree if Jimmy G can carve em' up, I'm sure new england took note...

I'm not sure if the Giant's triumphs over New England were due to the personnel on the Giant's roster or because of Coughlin having a unique game plan.

The correct answer is probably a combination of both....but we can't ignore the success Coughlin's teams have had against Brady....that said, I almost did exactly that, and ignored his influence until today. I dont know why Coughlin never crossed my mind, but I can't help but think he will be a big part of assisting the coaches, ecspecially the Defensive staff....

I was thinking all week that the Pats at home were just more then the Jags could handle, but the more I look, the Jags have enough talent, and more so, the speed to create some commotion in the pocket....

Sacks are huge in any game obviously, but with Brady I often times think the most important thing is to get him off of his spots....Once they have a rhythm, Brady and McDaniels seem to operate totally in sync and are impossible to stop....getting to Brady and how often is key....make him move and you have a chance....allow him to sit on his drops and be in rhythm, and you may as well pack your bags.....

Old school always says it....The pats are going to bring at least 28 points to the party...that is unless the Jags can collapse the pocket....again, they dont even have to get sacks....as long as they can manipulate the pocket, they can keep them under 4 TDs, even in Foxboro....if the Pats hit 28+, I'm not sure Bortles can keep pace against a Pats defense that is vastly improved from early weeks, and really underrated....

Shredding the leaky D that resides at Heinz field is one thing....going to Foxboro and torching a Patricia/Billicik led defense is a whole other animal....

Jags I would say BEST effort nets them 24-27 points....Move Brady from the pocket, and that may be sufficient....allow him to find a rhythm, and that doesn't get it done

Can some Coughlin influence help a team do it again and sleigh the mighty Dragon...the more I look, it just may.....

By that logic, we should also be factoring in that the Coughlin-coached Jags lost 20-6 to the Pats in the 1996 AFC Championship game. Those Giants/Pats superbowls were also long enough ago that Coughlin?s presence is not relevant to this Sunday?s game. Sure, maybe he can make his players feel like they?ve got a shot during practices this week by reminding them that he was able to beat them in two superbowls, but once they get on the field, none of that means anything and the Jags will quickly realize they are out-classed, out-schemed and without an answer at QB to the GOAT when they trail for the first time in the game.

Except 1996 doesnt fit the narrative...

Brady didn't play for that team
Billicik didn't coach it

You don't think there is any merit to Coughlin having a gameplan that noone else has figured out? I would say the gmen, during Coughlin's tenure, are the only team to have an argument that they have the upper hand in head-to-head matchups since Brady and hoodie took over...

If Coughlin knows the recipe to make Brady look mortal, which i think its apparent he does, I think it absolutely could play a factor having him in the gameplan meetings

I think coaching is more important then ever.....every guy in the NFL is a horse anymore.....its about putting guys in spots to succeed....every team has lineman who can run as fast as linebackers....linebackers who can run like dbs....etc....even the browns have talent....

Coaching is key in today's NFL....Rams are perfect example.. With Fischer they were a trainwreck....with McVay they won 12 games....with the same talent and players

Just my opinion
