Cool night, wind blowing out, perfect for the knuckle ball. You would think by looking on the internet that the Rays already won the game but the books don't give out free money. Do people not remember 2004 and how crappy the Red Sox looked early against the Yankees. This team shines when everyone is against them.

Red Sox -1.5 (+150)

$500 to win $750

The knuckle ball is not thrown with a tight grip, so I think Wake prefers to have drier hands. Also knuckleballers prefer to have the wind in their face so the ball dances rather than flattening out.

Yeah 10 mph is not that much, but should be enough to help him tonight. I saw a thing on TV about the knuckle ball a while ago and remember the wind plays the most important factor. I dunno maybe the Rays crush him either way, but I have a gut feeling with lots of people on the Rays that they might stumble tonight. I mean on paper, line-up vs. line-up and pitcher vs. pitcher this is a no brainer, take the Rays. However why hang 50 cents on the favorite? Line has gone all the way down to 36 cents. Reminds me of Tampa last Friday night, line went from -110 to -128 on the Rays when everyone was saying there was no way Boston would beat them.

I'm on the game and 1st 5 Overs. Boston isn't gonna sleep walk through another game and the Rays have monster team speed that will be affective with the knuckler on the mound. Unless that wind picks up and is gonna be steady throughout the game, he's gonna get hit. Any lulls in the breeze and it's launch time when he releases the ball. I'm also reading the wind speed is higher. Last time Wake faced them in TB he didn't walk anybody and they scorched him. They have seen his knuckler enough this year. Also, this line is higher OUTDOORS with the wind and the Boston accents than it was in a windless dome during the season.

GL IO hope that Sonnanstine gets torched early, the Rays have been locked in for sure, but I think they will be off balance tonight and come tomorrow morn all "experts" on TV will be talking about the knuckle ball dancing all night and how you can't count the veteran team out. The coverage of this series has been so back and forth it is not even funny.

HOW DOES WEATHER AFFECT PITCHERS?

SEATTLE - In yesterday's column, we talked about how weather affects baseball hitters. But it has a slight affect on pitchers as well, although not as pronounced.

First, a recap on density: warm air is less dense than cold air. For a pitcher, the lesser density means a fastball will go slightly faster on warm days than on cold days.

However, with less drag, it also means their curveballs won't curve as much and their sinkers won't sink as much. We're not talking a lot, but it could be the difference between a home run and a pop up to second base.

Knuckleball pitchers, who heavily rely on the dragging effects of air to alter the ball's trajectory, usually fare much better on cold nights than during warm days.

Capt I did a small 3 teamer Red Sox ML, Under 9, with the Phils ML on Wednesday. Like the Red Sox a lot tonight, the under less but more than the over. I can see Sox getting 4-6 runs until the Rays BP comes into play and keeps the damange to a minimum. Don't really see Rays getting much of Wake and he could go 8 innings.

Every new post that comes up on the net is Rays ML, Rays Alt RL, Rays team total over, Full Game Over, First 5 innings over, etc. It's crazy how much everyone loves the Rays tonight. I mean Wake's starts this season against the Rays have come at the Trop. Also a lot of his post season work has been on mop up duty. I think this is setting up nicely for a big Boston win. GL bro.
