Once again I advise you to NOT to bet Toronto tonight. Their play recently has been abysmal, especially on the defensive end. They simply cannot control guard penetration and have nobody in the middle to protect the paint area. Thus they are giving up tons of layups/dunks and open looks for spot up shooters when the ball is kicked back outside.
The R.Alston/S. Mitchell relationshiip is still on shaky ground as R. Alston has hinted he should recieve a public apology after the latest incident. Alston issued a public apology after the first confrontation and feels this time it was not his fault this time around and he should be recieving the apology.
In other news recently aquired Forward Eric Williams has asked to be traded due to the fact he has lost his starting spot and is recieving limited minutes.
This team is sputtering to say the least and honestly I don't see an end to their struggles. They simply don't have enough talent to compete and have too many important weaknesses. As mentioned their perimeter defense is brutal and they also have no big men to rebound. Once teams get in the paint they usually have 2 attempts to make a high percentage shot.
Specifically tonight Iverson will be a serious problem. He is the exact player Toronto can't contain. If reasonably healthy Iverson should have a monster game. Philly also has a good crop of big men (Dalembert, C. Williamson, M. Jackson, K. Thomas) which should wreak havoc in the paint.
I watched Philadelphia play NJ earlier this week and liked their team alot. Even without Iverson they really should've taken care of NJ but were unlucky to lose in OT. I know they dropped their last game to Memphis at home but it came down to the wire so I don't see any need for concern on their current form.
Having said all this I thought I could grab at least 3 points with Philly tonight however that is not the case. Still I feel Philly will win 2nite and I must not pass up this good matchup. Notice Toronto's lost 4 of their past 5 games at home (should have been all 5 if not for a miraculous comeback against Washington in which G. Arenas was ejected in the 3rd quarter) so I would not look so deeply into their good home record
Philly on the ml +105-+110 for a medium sized play
