Just put $20 away a week (like Eric said) under the mattress (remove all porn material first! :D :D :D) and by the time the Vegas party is here, you will have OVER $1000!!!!!!!!!!!

$300 or so for the room, $100+ for the party, and OVER $600 for gambling. Just a thought.

or you can book a room near the Airport (ho jo's, comfort inn, etc) with free shuttle to the strip. just pay for the taxi to the Sunset Station. Your choice.

Are they walking there?:D

I am curious as to what the cost was this year. No one has really mentioned that.

I know I am going to stay at the Treasure Island this April, and it is $69 a night for a room (opting for $129 jr suite) and airfare (from OHare) will be $166 per person flying red eyes, or about $225-$250 per person to fly late afternoon. I am pretty sure that the cost of Las Vegas goes up on SB weekend, and Fight Weekends, so it might be a little more expensive to go this year.

Also, I don't know what the average stay for a "jacker" will be. Seems like the consensus has been get there on Friday, and leave Monday.

Personally, I like a five or six day stay when I visit.

Then you have the question about "gambling funds". $600 doesn't seem like a lot fun will be had gambling! Even for a couple of days. Unless you play nickel slots.

So, if anyone is comfortable telling what they alloted for trip cost and gambling cost, I wouldn't mind hearing about it.

It sure sounds like it gets bigger and better every year!

please remember, i'm a teacher ( HA.).....just bought a house.....still paying off my wedding and i have a kid on the way this april.....

funds WILL be limited.

unless anthony gets me an interest free loan which i DON'T have to pay back.;) :p

TV - You can easily do this trip "on the cheap" if you want.

I have typically been a "Strip" guy on my trips, but I admit, if I didnt need the poker rooms on the Strip, the Sunset would be a great place to stay and play. The rooms are cheap, the restaurants seemed great and there were a wide variety of tables and machines. Now if you give them enough action, they should write off the room alltogether. Dont think low rollers cant get free rooms, they can, as long as you put in time at the tables. A $10 BJ player playing 6 or 7 hours a day can still get room deals, regardless of the fact that they arent playing $100 a hand. Its all about putting in the time.

You could easily get roundtrip flight deals. My advice to you is to pick dates now for next year since you know the party date. Once or twice a week, spend 5 minutes looking at fares. It seems obsessive, but fares are updated in Sabre 3 times daily by the airlines. You may hit a sale this morning that isnt there by lunchtime. I guarantee between now and then you will find at least one sale between Toronto and Vegas, regardless of the fact it is SB weekend. My flight from DC was $220 roundtrip that we got on a sale deal in September.

Gamblingwise, its really up to you. You could get by on $100 a day or less if you stick to $20 a game or the horses, I just dont know what your speed is. Figure minimum $100 a day though.

When you go to place like Vegas, you can't worry about losing money.I think that will happen if a person allocates $100 per day for gambling.Don't forget with all the activity there is in a casino, a person usually spends alot of time there & little time in the hotel room.Because of that IMO $100 is not enough. But Sunset Station does have $3 & $5 blackjack tables. Then there is the time you may stay in the Sportsbook mingling with other fellow Madjackers. You would probably want to bet some baskets while hanging in the sportsbook.
Since Fletcher gave out tickets, the drinks were free & if you are gambling at either the tables or on the slot machine, the drinks are also free. The food costs depends on what you eat & where you eat.
The Saturday, before the superbowl, my wife & I spent the afternoon at the strip & came home to change because we had dinner & saw a show at the Paris Hotel. The cab fare one way including tip cost about $35.I am saying this in case anyone would want to spend time on the strip.Because of this expense,
I will probably stay at a hotel on the strip next year if my wife goes.Since she enjoyed herself she will probably go.

I hope this helped with some of the questions.

Everyone has some great points. If your looking for a thrift way, it can be done.

But most of us have no desire to go that way, and don't get me wrong.

My expenses this year were around $1000. My yearly goal is to come home with $3000 net. Made that the first night. On the other hand, wouldn't have been disappointed to have a $2,000 tab if things didn't work.

Each to your own. Lot's of ways to go about this trip. But I'll leave you all with one thing. This party/trip is worth 5 to 10 dimes in the information you can receive in future winnings, if you are willing to work at picking out a lot of great knowledge while your there.

We all like to talk about the fun, which I won't put a value on -- I call that priceless. yes, everyone does have a great time! But consider the above paragraph. Really can't put a price on that valuable information.

I'll close with two things:

Meeting Private Petey, don't know whether that would have been good or bad. He was a no show so I really can't comment.

I''l be honest and not meant to slight on anyone. I went back to meet everyone I meet last year, and all those great people didn't dissappont me again this year, what fun.

Also went to meet three people, mnm, loophole and IE. IE was a no show, but sure he was busy. The other two were more than worth getting to meet and pick their brains.

Then there were the surprises, very much expected. I expected to meet some of the people I'd never met before, anticapating great times.

Sure wasn't dashed in that department. goat, vinjai, Ar182, terryray, tjbell, the boundbook, my TB & Black Jack partner Smashmouth...............the list goes on and on.

Just a little advice folks. I had to beat the shit out of that guy who was trying to impersonate Global Trance on Friday night. Left me a little sore/black and blue on Saturday morning.

Global Trance, try and show up next year on Friday night--please? so I don't have to do that again. Geez, talk about a sore 50 year old. That was brutal.

Peace! Stash it under the rug, it's worth it.
