Anybody in this forum ever have it done. I had to get it done yesterday due to AVN which occurred because there was a very small amount of steroid running through my system due to my kidney rejection meds. Was wondering about the recovery time as well because the pain is torture even with a script of percocet. I have been walking and can climb stairs with a bannister. However, it's day two after surgery and I'm wondering when I'll be back to normal, have been doing the PT.

Trying to get a hold of Judy, she had both of them done a year apart. Will let you know what she says.

My wife had knee done in May.

Not same but just saying...USE the meds to get you thru your rehab.

My wife had to have a post operative manipulation..no fun.

They issued a CPM (mechanical device that does the rehab work for you) 6 hours a day, hoping it gets her over the hump.
Scargo ointment (over the counter)does a wonderful job with the scars.

Good luck...:0074

Had my right hip replaced in 2002. Best advice I can give you is get experienced PT treatment. Follow the exercises. My PT was short older lady who knew when I was cheating. She could make you cry with her exercises but in looking back I am so glad I had her help. My hip is 100 percent normal and only time I think about it is when I go through metal detectors.
Each week you will get stronger with the PT.
Good luck.

Feel for you Kneifl that has to be a bitch. Had the knee done and that was bad enough. PT and a positive attitude is the key. Stay strong!

Talked to Judy, she had them both done due to her occupation. She thinks it's great that your up and about so soon. She said it took her 6 weeks to feel some what normal, but her pain wasn't as bad as yours.
