3* - Boise State/Fresno State OVER (61)
Both of these teams are playing very good football and the Bulldogs have won six straight by an average of 29 points, while the Broncos have defeated their last seven opponents by 23.4 points. I don?t see much value in either side but if you put a gun to my head I would take Fresno -8 at home where they have won every game by an average score of 49-14. Instead, I will take a look at the total in a game of two high scoring offenses.
The average score in Boise?s games has been 38-24 and Fresno?s games are coming in at 42-16. If you add up the final scores in each team?s games, the average number comes in right around tonight?s posted total but if you add up the average scores of the two teams playing tonight you get a whopping 80 points! Granted, their defenses have limited their opponents scoring but most of those games were not played against offenses like the ones we will see tonight.
Fresno?s only loss was to Oregon and that score was 34-37. The Bulldogs scored 44 points on a Toledo team that was without Gradkowski and the total score in that game was still 58 points. Three of their games this year have been above 61 points.
Boises? two losses have been to Georgia and Oregon State and the final scores in those games totaled 61 and 57. In the Bronco?s game against Hawaii, the final score was 44-41 and in all, they have played in four games that have topped this number. I expect that this one will easily end up in the 70?s.
