This is partly a betting topic and partly just frustration when watching games, so if it needs to be moved I apologize...
Is it just me, or is betting totals in college and NFL just frustrating as hell? I hate taking OVER's in NFL and hate taking UNDER's in college. But I do anyway at times. I'm sure there is no advantage or system to just play all NFL under's and all college over's, but it can just be so frustrating to watch. I had a teaser last night with GB and OVER 38. Missed both parts on a really bad night.
I just hate the clock rules in both games and its like no one notices it. Its not too bad in college, just inconsistent. NFL is nothing but a scam.
Other than "tradition", why does the NCAA need the clock to stop on every first down? But then start the clock late in the game after a penalty? Just stop clock after 1st downs inside 2 minutes and be consistent on when clock starts/stops. Also, go to a 40-second clock PLEASE. Nothing is more frustrating, as a gambler and moreso as a fan, than to see human error affect the end of a game. Hmmm, will the ref spot the ball in 5 sec's...or 20 sec's???
NFL is very consistent. I'll give them that. But, the way they changed the rules about 10 years ago...if a guy goes out of bounds, they restart the clock. All it does is make time for more commercials. If there is a grind it out drive, you can almost say its 1 play per minute. That game last night (Packers/Vikings) was horrible. You'd have about 6 running plays and a short pass or 2. Move the ball 30 yards. Throw in a penalty (and restart clock) and that takes 8 minutes off the clock. Nothing happened.
The game still lasts 3 1/2 hours. I'm getting where I can't watch a lot of NFL. Its probably 66% commercials, literally. Theres so little game now unless you have something like Cincy/Indy.
How much of this crap are we, the fans going to take before we quit watching. TD, commercial, kickoff, commercial, injury, commercial, timeout, commercial, punt, commercial. Damn. Who cares anymore what these selfish asses do.
Just some rants. I've felt like this for years, but really got to me watching that turd last night. I lost, no big deal. Just to see all that time going off the clock with so few plays, and the game still lasted past midnight.
