I played football through college and had a cup of coffee in the NFL. I love the game. I just thank god that I never suffered even one concussion. I am at the point where its hard to watch anymore unless one considers the players less than human. How many guys get carted off each game? Are we numbed to what that means? Its not uncommon to see a guy knocked out before hitting the ground. It really saddens me to say, but football players have gotten so big and fast that they have outgrown the rules of the game. I feel it won't be here in 20 years. A college roommate is a d coordinator at a division 1 school or whatever you call major college football now. He agrees with me that there will be an on the field fatality one of these days. But this brain trauma thing, this cte has now taken so many beloved and familiar names......Seau, Duerson, Mike Webster, too many to count, and now Freakin Dorsett and McMahon are following them to a life with no quality and are going to have premature deaths, maybe at their own hand. Dorsett said he has had suicidal thoughts. I heard McMahon doesnt know his own name. the inteview w Dorsett was heart wrenching. He looked so terrible and he spoke like he was tormented by the change in his behavior, yelling at wife and kids. lots of out of character stuff. I'm sure someone will come in and say that they are making a lot of money, blah blah blah. No participant of a sport deserves an early death for having played their sport. No one ever warns players that playing football could kill you. In Boxing and cage fighting its obvious what the risks are. Punch drunk is an old term. Its always shocked me how the average life span of NFL players is so much shorter than their fellow man, but this CTE makes em die while they are still alive. Freakin McMahon was in the super bowl 25 years ago.
