RALEIGH, N.C. -- North Carolina State point guard Farnold Degand is out for the season with a torn anterior cruciate ligament.
Wolfpack coach Sidney Lowe said Monday that the sophomore tore the ligament in his left knee during N.C. State's win Sunday against Cincinnati. Lowe said the injury will require surgery.
Degand has started all 10 games for the Wolfpack this season and is averaging 6.9 points, 3.2 rebounds and 28.6 minutes per game. The Boston native led the Wolfpack in assists and 3-point shooting.

a rested north carolina team who has covered every large number vegas has put up this year against a nevada team traveling cross-country the day after christmas... don't think it'll be pretty. i'll watch and enjoy. nevada's 2-3 su on the road so far this year, but has not faced any competition anywhere near as talented and aggressive as the heels.

rider should take care of business in this matchup. jason thompson is great, drexel's lost 4 of 5, their only win in the only game w/o a line... bucknell. i expect rider to slowly build a lead and win this one by several possessions.

with degand out, frosh javier gonzalez will have to hand the point and he hasn't shown consistency this year and is having lots of trouble putting the ball in the hoop even from the FT line. i was surprised that nc state beat davidson, davidson just couldn't close again, but nc state got 21 free throws to davidson's 6 and davidson was right there. seton hall has much more size than davidson and will be able to keep up down low and actually get to the line. gonzalez won't be able to lead the team to a win, and i'm sure he'll get in some foul trouble and have to sit... idk what lowe will do then, it'll be interesting.

good luck, guys.

wolfpack does not lack for depth, and has plenty of options at pg. degand was the starter mainly for defensive reasons. tennessee transfer marques johnson is now eligible, and was expected to eventually challenge degand for the starter's job. gavin grant played the point for most of last year after antsur went down. courtney fells has also played point. hopefully the degand injury will work out to give mccauley more minutes in the rotation. that cant be anything but good for the pack.

*had to edit as had brain lock and used gonzalez name in place of degand.
