When I first saw "Smith" listed as the St. Louis starter, I figured it was Bud. Not the case. Anyone have any info on Travis Smith? This is not his debut but his first start.

Here's a little info I dug up:

2001 Highlights:
Started 22 games for Round Rock (AA), finishing first in the Texas League with a 3.09 ERA and 15 wins. ... His walks per nine innings ratio led all Texas league starters (1.41BB/9IP) and he finished fourth in the league in innings pitched (160.1). ... Was selected as a member of the Texas League All-Star game. ... Went 7.0 innings or more on 12 occasions. ... Threw two innings in one appearance at Triple-A New Orleans on 4/14. ... Shut out San Antonio for 8.2 innings on 7/25 for the win and two starts later (8/4) facing the same team, struck out a season-high seven batters in 5.1 innings. ... For the month of June was 4-1 in five games (four starts) with a 2.88 ERA.

My nephew in Texas has seen him on numerous occasions. He has good knowledge of the strike zone (minors, that is) pretty good command and know how to get wins. We will se more tonite.............I am not sure he is worth a play, tho. More of a wait & see type. THE HITMAN
