I was at the home opening series for the Brewers and let me tell you that the Crew fans think he is God.. My buddies were going nuts because he got 2 saves in the series. I told them that I would be shocked if he came close to last year's performance and they all told me that I am crazy.. These are the same fans who told me that obtaining Gomez was a steal from the Twins for Hardy.. After a 4 hit opening day performance. (1 hit since,. Good luck with that guy ) WHy is it that MOST Wisconsin fans drink the Kool Aid and cannot objectively critique their teams.. It is sickening.. Now back to Hoffman, this guy is done.. What a great career but it's over now. Teams have and will adjust to him this year.. Team are learning to take pitches and wait on the fast ball..
His fastball lost just enough to be a joke against true fastball hitters. Last season he got into enough trouble, but got out of it most times. You can't do that serving up bombs.
Most times I will say it is early in the season, but this is not good. He can't just "add speed" to his fastball.

His fb is a avg high school fb, does not have enough movement to even throw off a hitter. Pro hitters will look dead red let change go and drive the belt high fb all over the yard. This once great closer just can't walk away and thats a shame because it will be along year for him till brews sit him or send him out to pasture.
