I think both teams will take some time to develop with all the turnover both have experienced. I think USC size will be the difference, I see a low scoring game but only betting on USC... :SIB

Illinois is 3-0 with wins over Colgate (75-55), St. Francis (89-64) and Hawai'i (78-77 in OT). The Fighting Illini are led by new coach John Groce who guided the Ohio Bobcats to the 2012 Sweet 16. Senior guard Brandon Paul leads Illinois in scoring with a 19.7 average in the first three games. USC leads the all-time series with Illinois, 6-2, but has lost the last two contests with the last meeting being an Illinois 90-77 win on March 14, 1997 in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.

USC's roster features 12 upperclassmen and a combined 326 career starts at the Division I level entering this season. If you combined all of their career scoring averages, USC as a team would score 87.8 points per game. Counting Fontan who missed last season but started in the 2010-11 season, USC returns four starters (Dedmon, Fuller and Wesley), as well as four other players in Terrell, Stewart, Wise and Woolridge which have made at least 16 career starts.

i see this game the same way you do... total went from 120 opener to 125.5-------last year usc took many lumps, did not fair well vrs the spread--i faded this team alot..but now they have guys back that were not there---i particualrly like the way they match-up with illinois--its no seceret illinois goes through their tough offensive minded center--but usc has the man power to give him fits--not sure why the total went up 5.5 points--the smaall public pool playin this game is on the over--i see a grind it out game, with usc taking this one down---good luck

While this is clearly a statement after the fact...I don't think it's the public moving lines on these CBB totals.

I was on USC last night and wanted to watch the game because I had read a lot of stuff about all of the quality transfers coming in and the return of Jio Fontan and yada.. yada..yada.

To sum up their performance lat me quote the Talking Heads. " Same as it ever was.. Same as it ever was..." Fontan was so absorbed with trying to keep up with the Ill pace that he was running up and down the floor with no real purpous. he looked awful. The Trojans in general just looked like they were not ready to play and like they had not seen any film of Illinois. What a joke they were.

I won't be backing them anytime in the near future.

making a play on Marquette based on the info here....hoping SC doesn't have it all together yet and if they didn't to start in Maui, they surely can't have it all in place after a few days?
