Mike Trout will have surgery Wednesday to repair an ulnar collateral ligament tear in his left thumb and will be sidelined for 6-8 weeks.
The non-surgical route could have potentially cut Trout's rehab time roughly in half, but evidently the tear was deemed severe enough that surgery was deemed the best option.
As far as the Angels go, they will move Cameron Maybin over to center field and will likely use Ben Revere most of the time in left. They've also called up Eric Young Jr. to provide depth.
