I just caught the series premiere last night.

WOW -- that might be THE best series opening episode I've ever seen. Definitely looks to be a stellar looking show

from the opening_music to the pacing, characters/plot development -- was pretty impressed

other shows I've liked (and i'm sure to forget a couple) in semi order of fandom (very HBO and AMC heavy list)

*series is done
^most likely done, not sure if ever coming back

Breaking Bad*
Boardwalk Empire
Mad Men
Game of Thrones
Entourage*
Friday Night Lights*
Law & Order - Criminal Intent
The Hour (bbc)^
Ripper Street (bbc)^
Hell On Wheels
Archer
Sons Of Anarchy
Doctor Who (I actually just watched essentially the last 6 or so seasons on, On Demand)
How To Make It In America
Low Winter Sun

shows have been told are also great, just haven't seen/caught

The Wire
Dexter
Justified

to name a few

First off...repost......have been other threads on this show.....

2nd......Game of Thrones and Family Guy are the shit.

3rd.......True Detective is ok but a little slow for 1st two episodes.

4th.......not having Family Guy, The Following or The Americans on your list is a travesty.

First off...repost......have been other threads on this show......

>>>> Even though it doesn't take detective like skills to find if something has been discussed in forum already, i'm not perusing threads on breakneck pace of someone like The Boys to have realized if missed other posts on show -- even though I wouldn't even venture into opening a The_Boys_thread more than once, simply because is entirely too much venom thrown at him, in his own posts, to really don't wanna expose myself to unneeded negativity. Thats not to say he doesn't deserve some, if not most of it, but with the new year upon us, I've made it my singular goal to be a nicer, kinder and perhaps even more thoughtful version of myself from now on (or at least certainly make the effort to be)

but yeah, you're right, i'm sure someone, if not multiple people had chimed in on --and I don't post much as is, so figured my mere mention would be buried before you knew --though eagle eyed as you were caught me. clearly i'll needa a thrashing from the repost police --which I'd be more than happy to get if was from the girl woody harrelson gets with in ep 2

I'd be happy to whatever repost fine there is, in the form of chipwich's, however, it seems they're pretty hard to come by

2nd......Game of Thrones and Family Guy are the shit.

>>>>> game of thrones, agree... family guy-- i'll have to agree to disagree. stewie while having moments that were funny no doubt -and the whole show, having lasted as long as it has, obviously lends itself to being watchable by some, --but wasn't my cup of tea. besides, for whatever reason, it seems my (non sports) channel surfing is nearly exclusive to hbo, amc, discovery channel, and velocity channel, that really don't catch up on other shows on channels as much, to catch onto all the great shows out there... as I've_been_in_the_market_for_a_life_for_some_time_now that the added "culture" would be a welcome addition to ever expanding social graces that having had chance to come across one of THE PREMIERE sports, interaction forums on the interweb, has helped me with. I am however, a work in progress (read: piss poor grammar, punctuation and general sentence/paragraph formation)

who even uses "the shit" as a proclamation to the level of something's awesomeness anymore? I do enjoy your moxie though kick

3rd.......True Detective is ok but a little slow for 1st two episodes

>>>>>> I surely liked the first ep --as stated in first post (albeit, apparently a repost in regards to actual content) and agree the 2nd was a shade off of where I thought could've been, but still remain firmly entrenched in my being a fan of whats to come --that's me though

4th.......not having Family Guy, The Following or The Americans on your list is a travesty.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> this almost seems like an extension of the knock, or praise of game of thrones and family guy above. essentially the same kind of post, simply changing out the players.... no? I guess a travesty is upon us then (almost like a_plague_on_both_your_houses kind of? -that guy was good in the wheelchair on OZ, wasn't he?) though -- as i've never claimed to be THE foremost critic on all things fantastical in tv land (I think three headed_chimera that vie to hold said title are -in no particular order kickserv, Joker and The Boys), simply offered my favs list to give anyone that thought well enough to read my thoughts on true detective, an idea of the other kinds of shows that i find entertaining; as a kind of... primer into understanding where it is i'm coming from --from entertainment standpoint.

It's mainly jealousy and lack of taste level that pushes Joker and others to act the way they do. It is what it is.

pretty damn good

pretty damn good

I really liked the series and thought it was pretty damn good so far. Hopefully, the next few episodes the action will pick up, but I think it will. It will be widely watched as well.

"the bunker"
thought episode 1 and 2 were pretty tough to hang with...for me,they seemed to be hitting their stride in episode 3......learning more about mcconaughey`s background and getting closer to how the original case went down.....glad i hung in.....

black sails looks a little silly and unrealistic,imo....unlike say, deadwood, the pirates and their women are a bit too kempt and oolished...needs more grit...

Episode 4 finally added some action, about friggen time:00hour

Only 8 episodes in total......hopefully episodes 5, 6, 7 and 8 will be livelier then the beginning of the show.

Good show, not great by any means, but solid.
