FWIW, go to Chenker's and Nick's thread about betting playoff pucks. Betting hockey playoffs is pretty much just like any other sports in the playoffs. ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN, THAT'S WHY THEY PLAY THE GAME. So stay away from the huge favs, as tempting as they look. I normally play 1-4 units per wager during the regular season, but in the playoffs usually just 2 unit flat bets, with an occasional 3 unit play. The point is to NOT expect to make a killing in the playoffs, if you expect it, you will almost for sure lose. There's nothing like the Stanley Cup Playoffs, so enjoy the excitement and the show these pros put on, and hopefully we'll fatten our wallets a little more along the way.
Get a few outs, shop for lines, you can find some outrageous differing lines from book to book. But make sure they pay out
One thing about totals of 4.5. I almost always play the Over when I see a 4.5 in the playoffs, as a 2-2 tie is an automatic winner. I don't have any stats to back this up, but with the exception of last yr, I had made a killing taking Over4.5 the previous yrs in the playoffs.
