Kicking off my 07-08 campaign tonight. I like to let things shake out a tad before jumping in, so here we go...

Something tells me this could be a long year, when you start by selecting a 16 point favorite that is 0-3 against the 233rd toughest schedule in the country...

How do the hometown Gophers look w/ Tubby......like them tonight, but not sure about them going on the road......what do you see in the game tonight that gives you confidence in Minny?

Hi, Prophet, thanks for checking in. As for the Tubby Gophers, I have the current thinking that this squad will be undervalued and be a better team overall simply because of Tubby's influence. I had seen plenty here locally that the athletes (I use the term loosely) brought in by Monson have realized that they might actually have to justify their "educations" and free rides, and I personally assume that the minute Tubby walked on the court here that everything immediately changed. Simplistic view? Maybe. But this guy will at least demand a certain amount of effort and will be able to motivate the team to be better than they were under Monson.

I can only say that these kids will be held to a different standard every single day, which will translate into a better team. I have no idea on how to put that into a handicapping number, necessarily, but I will definitely give them some added value until we see what actually shakes out. They won't be a top flight team immediately, but the culture will certainly change immediately.

My opinion, only. We'll see if they take care of business against a fair pairing tonight. Initially sounds positive, but we'll see how they finish.

FYI, was only able to listen to the end of the game. It SOUNDED like a Gopher team that paid attention to detail, did the right things to close out a game, made free throws, and withstood a run at them in a hostile environment on the road. Everything that they never seemed to do under Monson.

A push on the stupid game? Oh well, better than a loss, eh? And we also back MSU with their best player probably not being a big factor. Dang...what can you do?
