Would like to hear opinions on the following:

Toronto +6.0
Orlando +10.0
Denver +10.5
Golden State +6.5
La Clippers +7.0

My thoughts:

Toronto
I don't know a soul who would put money on the Raps right now. Especially after Detroit came away with a nice win vs Sac their last game out. I asked myself...could Detroit really be laying any more in this game, and the answer is YES. If Utah can lay 7 to the Clips, then I think Detroit can lay 7 to the Raps. Again, just don't like betting with bad ball clubs, and that, Toronto is. Is there any motivation to play right now???

Orlando
Went against them last night, and glad they lost, even though it was close. San Antonio has been covering 8.5+ at home with ease lately. Question is...can they stop T-Mac? I don't think they can. T-Mac has evolved his game to the perimeter, and even having a defensive stud like Bowen doesn't do much against this kid. Gooden is back and will bang a little down low with Duncan, but this Spur team is on a mission right now. The way I see it...I think Orlando can beat this team straight up, so why not play with the 10 points?

Denver
One angle I am looking at for this one. Phoenix is 0-7 when laying more than 8.5 at home. Not to mention Denver is playing better lately (Camby is back, and Coach B does not put up with BS). However, Phoenix just took the lead in the 8th spot, they definitely have something to play for, but is it worth a 10 point cushion to them? Denver is a bad team, hard to take them in this spot.

Golden State
I think I this one looks like my play. Love the fact that Portland beat the Mavs (I might add I was on Por very big) on ESPN last week. Love the fact that the Warriors are really still in the playoff hunt (I am a Houstonian, but would love for Gst to make it over the Rockets), and like to see the line shift down 1/2 a point from the opener.

Portland beat GST by 25 last time at home, but Portland really did ALL their damage in the 1st Qtr (23 pt lead). From my standpoint, that final score is deceiving, and this GST team has matured a lot since then. Not to mention, I am sure they remember that beating. Blazers were favored by 8.5 back then, and now it has dropped 2 points, great sign!

Gst has the big bodies down low (thought not very offensively skilled) to keep Wallace busy and being the tough guys they are, could get Wallace angry as well. Stoudamire and McInnis cannot handle Arenas...that is where the loss of Pippen will hurt tonight, and the barrage of athletes that Gst can throw at you is scary.

La Clippers
Yep...another bad team I am looking at here. Largest home dog on the card today (where there are plaenty of 'em), going against a Jazz team that has been below average on the road. Why I really like the Clippers:

Last 10 home games:
Offensive scoring
87,94,101,106,111,85,91,90,107,102

I think they will crack 90 (in all reality, 95+) here.

Utah Jazz when allowing 90+ pts on the road:
9-18 ATS
8-19 SU

This line opened at 6, and jumped to 7, and as I have mentioned, +7 is much better than 6, b/c it equates to 3 posessions as opposed to 2.

Please chime in, I know it's slow this time of year b/c of bases, but we still have money to make here!

Clippers........

Clippers........

...Been scoring some, but allowing a heap too.

Last 13 home games LAC have allowed 100+ in 10 of them!! (Av. 102.5 ppg!)
Utah are 8-1 when scoring 100+ away. LAC 3-12-1 allowing 100+ @ home. (6-18-1 allowing 90+!)

Got Utah -5' early and like it alot ;)

Good luck with the rest :D

for what its worth....dept.

Clippers star Elton Brand was activated Tuesday after missing 18 games because of a stress fracture above his left ankle.

To make room, Los Angeles placed Cherokee Parks on the injured list with back spasms. He started all 18 games at power forward in Brand's absence.

Brand, the Clippers' leading scorer and rebounder, entered Tuesday night's game against Utah averaging 18.4 points, 11.2 rebounds and 2.6 blocks in 53 games.

Went ahead and took:

Toronto +6.0 (just a contrarion play)
Golden State +6.5 (I think they can create lots of problems, and can win SU)
LA Clippers +5.5 (line dropped on me, probably because of Brand, but I still don't think Utah deserves to be laying this many on the road).

Sorry Roger, I just don't think the Rockets deserve a playoff spot this year. They are just not a fun team to watch. Yao is not being utilized like he should, and when he gets the ball, he is slow to react and make a decision. Watch a Rockets game and you see Yao hand off the ball to Francis or Cuttino 50% of the time he touches it (when he is 4 ft from the basket). I would rather see a high powered, offensive team like Gst in the 1st rd fight the Mavs than the Rockets.
