JT----IT seems all of us are looking at Portland but Be careful with Denver+7 I know they have been playing well but---this team has been inconsistent(especially on the road)---and Houston(especially their guard match-up well against Denver... I'm leaning towards Houston---BIg..

Thanks for the heads up Innavation, it's always great to get information.
I will try to post my reasonings for that game as well, however I want to start with the early game.

Sacremento @ Cavs
This line opened at 8 and since has gone up to nine. I already tagged it at nine, but would be more than happy to grab it if the hook shows up, or even better at ten flat.
The kings walk into a perfect letdown situation in this game against the Cavs. They come off a stomping of the talented spurs, and run into a pathetic cavs club who was horrid from the field as they were completely shutdown by the magic. To make matters worse for the kings, they have to try and focus on the cavs tonight, instead of tomorrow's matchup with the Pacers which will be on national television. Also the blowout wins they have put up of late is actually a bad sign as the Kings are just 1-4 SU, and 0-5 ATS after two double digit wins. In fact when the kings are on a two game winning streak SU and ATS, they are just 5-4 SU, and 1-8 ATS.Vlade Divac has shown up in a huge way with the injury to superstar Chris Weber. Vlade had a double-double game against the spurs at 25 points and 11 boards, but the problem is the Kings are worried about his age, and will look to give him rest in back-to-back situations. Yep you guessed it, that is the exact situation they are in tonight. Father Time hasn't been an issue yet, but coach Rick Adelman's time allotment is another matter, so the Kings are already conscious of trying to limit Vlade Divac's minutes in a plan to keep him fresh for what could be the longest season in team history.
Said Pollard: "You don't want to waste Vlade this early in the year. It's not like anything he couldn't come back from. It's not like you really need to be worried about his minutes in the preseason and the start of the season. But you do have to look at the big picture."

Now by no means do I think they are going to bench Vlade, but I could see them resting him, especially if they grab a lead, or want to pack it in early. This would lessen the chances of a blowout by the kings, and increase the chances of a back door cover by the Cavs.

I get a shot at the cavs tonight in another situation that I like to take advantage of. I like to get on a team that had a horrible offensive stint in the last game out and play the next game at home, and the cavs fit this one perfectly. The cavs were held to 20 FG's last time out against the magic, which set a new mark for Cleveland, and put them in elite company as only five other team in NBA history have made fewer than 20 in a game. The cavs actually have rebounded around the .500 mark after a dismal performance as after a game they shot less than 40% and lost they are 5-4 ATS Usually after a performance like this the team will emphasize scoring during practice, and the cavs will have extra incentive as they are at home, where they have yet to win. The cavs have actually grabbed a good number against the kings as they are 6-2 ats vs the kings since '96, to include 3-1 at cleveland. The Cavs showed they can play with a decent team if the shots are dropping as they played miami very well, and they will do the same tonight.

Cleveland +9

That Cleveland play is UGLY!

That said, I firmly agree with you on playing them. I will hold my nose and play it as well :)

Game 1, they played comparably bad against Boston, and followed up the next night with a great effort at Charlotte.

I expect the same tonight, and a close, spread-covering game.

hello jt sneaks. i have been following your picks and respect you very much. i am wondering why you rate the portland game so high. my take on this game is if portland was that much better shouldn't they be favored by more than just 1 pt at home. this game looks too easy and it scares me. can i hear your take on this game. from this line i was leaning towards utah. thank you. hope to hear a reply from you.

JTHRILL,

Thank you very much for the kind words, and I will make sure I post my reasoning as soon as I can. I am still shopping for lines so I can knock out the early games, and then it will be right up. You may want to take the time to check out some other posts by some great cappers in here on Portland as they offer some great insight as well. I will be back shortly, and again I thank you for the kind words, if you ever have any questions on my selections, or anything for that matter feel free to post.

adding One Unit Selection:

PHILADELPHIA.gif
+4

Okay, okay, I don't have any inside info, but I do have a hunch. The bottom line is this, the sixers have not won a game and the will shocase the banners tonight so the crowd will be jumping, probably enough value to take the sixers, alone. But Larry Brown said Iverson looks good to go and he is questionable tonight. I think I have the answer. Iverson likes two things to win, and to get the spotlight, he will get both if he jumps into the spotlight tonight, and plus points is a steal. I'll take a chance with a one unit selection.

First thing first, great to see so many new posters and junior members posting!

Secondly I need some help, the line has risen to nuggets +9, is this just because Rider may not play? If it is I'll still take the points, but if there was something new, let me know.

Thanks in advance to all that help out.

Well for the first time this season local news wont say if Iverson is playin or isnt...Heres what I got from the paper...
Iverson and McKie participated fully in yesterday's practice, which stretched to more than 2 1/2 hours. Coach Larry Brown and McKie described Iverson as "close," while McKie said he was "a week or two, maybe" away. Snow could miss three months.
Local had +3 on the game too...

Sorry I am so late, I hope someone is still around for this one.

UTAH @ Portland

Okay I will try not to repeat some things I have seen before, so excuse me if I do. There is no doubt that the jazz are playing better and have faced better talented teams up until now. However I seem them trying to take a breather in this spot. They just finished up against the lakers, and felt like they should have won, so i already get them dissapointed but now the frustration mounts, and you can add some off court distractions to this one as well.

The blazers may not be any better but between now and the last gane some things have changed: a) They lost to the warriors a team they have owned, and they were embarrassed.
b) Someone on the team took a stand. The blazers have never respected a coach and there is no difference in Mo Cheeks, at least just yet, but a leader, finally di emerge. That man Scottie Pippen. The strain of losing appears to be wearing on the Blazers. Well, at least on Scottie Pippen.

After Sunday's loss to the Golden State Warriors, Pippen was upset that Rasheed Wallace and Shawn Kemp were smiling and joking in the locker room.

"It ticks me off," Pippen said. "It really says you accept losing. Winning should be when you earn the right to sit in the locker room and talk. You win, then it's fine. That's the way I have always been."

No insulting other players on this team is not rare, but I belive if anyone, Pippen has some respect on this team, just check out his ring fingers, and I think this will get the team going. Pippen will also respond, (sorry bulls fans should have seen this a long time ago)and look for kemp and wallace to play make up. The PG position has always been solid but they never gave mighty mouse a chance, and mo cheeks is finally doing that. The Jazz have had a tough schedule early, and will be plain tired.

This one is a blow out.

Blazers -1.5

When the blazers had the starters on the floor they were dominating, I look for the same in the second half.

Two Unit Selection:

Blazers +2
