Thanks for the heads up Innavation, it's always great to get information.
I will try to post my reasonings for that game as well, however I want to start with the early game.
Sacremento @ Cavs
This line opened at 8 and since has gone up to nine. I already tagged it at nine, but would be more than happy to grab it if the hook shows up, or even better at ten flat.
The kings walk into a perfect letdown situation in this game against the Cavs. They come off a stomping of the talented spurs, and run into a pathetic cavs club who was horrid from the field as they were completely shutdown by the magic. To make matters worse for the kings, they have to try and focus on the cavs tonight, instead of tomorrow's matchup with the Pacers which will be on national television. Also the blowout wins they have put up of late is actually a bad sign as the Kings are just 1-4 SU, and 0-5 ATS after two double digit wins. In fact when the kings are on a two game winning streak SU and ATS, they are just 5-4 SU, and 1-8 ATS.Vlade Divac has shown up in a huge way with the injury to superstar Chris Weber. Vlade had a double-double game against the spurs at 25 points and 11 boards, but the problem is the Kings are worried about his age, and will look to give him rest in back-to-back situations. Yep you guessed it, that is the exact situation they are in tonight. Father Time hasn't been an issue yet, but coach Rick Adelman's time allotment is another matter, so the Kings are already conscious of trying to limit Vlade Divac's minutes in a plan to keep him fresh for what could be the longest season in team history.
Said Pollard: "You don't want to waste Vlade this early in the year. It's not like anything he couldn't come back from. It's not like you really need to be worried about his minutes in the preseason and the start of the season. But you do have to look at the big picture."
Now by no means do I think they are going to bench Vlade, but I could see them resting him, especially if they grab a lead, or want to pack it in early. This would lessen the chances of a blowout by the kings, and increase the chances of a back door cover by the Cavs.
I get a shot at the cavs tonight in another situation that I like to take advantage of. I like to get on a team that had a horrible offensive stint in the last game out and play the next game at home, and the cavs fit this one perfectly. The cavs were held to 20 FG's last time out against the magic, which set a new mark for Cleveland, and put them in elite company as only five other team in NBA history have made fewer than 20 in a game. The cavs actually have rebounded around the .500 mark after a dismal performance as after a game they shot less than 40% and lost they are 5-4 ATS Usually after a performance like this the team will emphasize scoring during practice, and the cavs will have extra incentive as they are at home, where they have yet to win. The cavs have actually grabbed a good number against the kings as they are 6-2 ats vs the kings since '96, to include 3-1 at cleveland. The Cavs showed they can play with a decent team if the shots are dropping as they played miami very well, and they will do the same tonight.
