like graves in this spot over estes- and with the total being 13.5- that tells me the wind is blowing out in wrigley and there are gonna a handful of home run balls. and while the reds dont have a lot of strengths- they do hold a big edge over the cubs in home run power. its up to graves to make sure he gets his changeup working and not allow this game to become a 9-8 type game. reds are a strange team. theyre capable of getting damn near no-hit, and then the next night theyre capable of double digit runs. maybe theyre gonna have a clunker today after hitting prior around. but heres hoping the reds out together a little winning streak
white sox are pretty much a gut feeling, line-is-there-for-a-reason kind of play. sure the royals offer the line value- but why is a 10-1 team a 200-dog? although the revenge angle is greatly lessened in baseball- it is worth noting that the sox get a chance to avange their sweep at the hands of the royals in a quick turnaround- with the sweep coming the opening series 2 weeks ago. beurhle looked unhittable vs cleveland last thursday, and looked good vs kansas city on opening day for that matter. i didnt see his 2nd start of the season- but if he throws anywhere near as well as he did last thursday- sox should be worth the chalk
time for beckett to step up. marlins need an "ace". burnett and beckett both have so much potential- but they are really inconsistent. which beckett will show up- the one that got rocked by the phils on opening day or the one that dominated the braves and maddux? on paper- the pitching matchup is a mismatch. roa cant come anywhere close to matching beckett's stuff. but phils are just finding ways to win, which is what good teams do. marlins had their chances last night in their 5-2 loss. im hoping theyll bounce back here with beckett throwing
