Prov -5 vs Butler (2) (5 dimes)

Here's to the hope that the Friars have one more decent game in them. I'm always hesitant to back a chalk coming off a big victory so this is selection is a bit more on the speculative side. Now I don't expect the Friars to shoot lights out like they did against the Jays but I do expect them to win the glass and especially the offensive glass and get some put backs. They have been streaky this season and they get to play this one without travel involved which is something that I like a lot.

I've seen both on multiple occasions and Butler just does not impress me. Looking at their record, it appears that they simply don't play well away from Hinkle and their home / away variance is fairly large which makes sense given that their iconic gym is a tough place for the visitors. This is just their 5th true roadie of the year with struggles at Ball St and Evansville included in the mix. They have not beat a top 50 RPI team all season. Without Brad Stevens the Bulldogs are struggling big time in the Big East. Maybe being the big shark of the Horizon wasn't such a bad thing after all.

Prov is not a team I would usually look to play in the role of the favorite but this situation may be the exception. They have the look of an improving team and they hit their FTs like no other team in the land. They can close out a game.

Maybe some totals later... This is not a card that I like at all today

Warming up to tonights tilts little by little.....

I had a short discussion with DD on here last week noting the merits of fading Ohio St and Mizzwho. Both of whom that I felt were vastly overrated. This game sets up in some respects to the Prov game in that it features a home side that has been in place waiting for Mizzou, the visitor who like Butler is largely untested on the road. If Mizzou has caught points at any time this year I am unaware of it as their schedule has been pretty light and they were favored over UCLA if I recall correctly. The thought of meaningful hoops seems foreign to LSU but a win here could get them a top 50 RPI spot and spawn legit tourney talk. I think that Mizzou will be heavily bet and I'd like to get this down to to minus 4 but that may not happen. Feel that the LSU wins this one at Pistol Pete's place.

I'll take a stab with Milwaukee tonight. Wright State is hardly built to play a style of ball that makes it easy for them to secure large margins of victory. They like to milk the shot clock and play solid D. They are off a good win at Cleve St and may be ripe for a let down tonight. Under the number looks promising here as well.

For now....

LSU -5 (3)
Milwaukee +7' (3)
FH: Mizz/LSU under 65 (4)
FH: Mil / Wright under 60 (3)

fcp, it's almost like I'm reading my own thoughts on these games. although I may stay off providence.

fwiw, mizzou was a 3-point dog at nc st.

I hate the fact that I love lsu tonight.

recap: 2-2-1 (-2.2)

Spinning the wheels.... Painful push on the Wright/ Milw 1H total as the guy hits a long 3 at the buzzer after his first clank rebounded long right to the spot where he stood. Later players got the win by the hook...... Prov won for exactly the reasons I stated they would,a rarity, which was rebounding and FTs to close it out. LSU barely covers but neither of those teams appear to have too bright of a future. i expected a better played game. That was a lucky win...... Milwaukee dug a huge hole from which they could not escape.

Thanks for the comments........
