Kansas City area for who knows how long....
ATL -1.5 -102
Boston -1.5 +105
under 8.5 Cubs/STL -110

in addition to Champion Play's writeup on this ATL game, I also note that Mets aren't batting as well with Floyd gone now--especially vs RH pitchers. Mets have lost all three Seo starts this season vs ATL, and ATL is 9-0 last nine meetings here with Mets (9-1 this season).

Boston playing well now and pounds lefties. Hendrickson not facing a team named Seattle, let's hope for a return to form.

Seattle players said they couldn't wait to get back home and win some games. And Mariners really thrive in cool weather there, so staying off that big TB dog today.

Prior been lights out since DL return (admittedly against weaker offensive teams) and Stephenson has a bad outing to bounce back from, plus additional incentive that he may be pitching for his rotation spot with Hitchcock there now.

3-1 last two postings. (Aug 19 and yesterday), +2.90 units.

that takes it to +11.06 for the season (222-200-3).

all (but one two unit so far) flat bet 1 unit risk per pic (for example, a +135 pic would pay 1.35 units, a -135 pic would pay 0.74 units).

no chalk over -160

for fun parlay pics: 1-20 (-18.79) 1 unit risk for grading purposes, but I put a lot less on them in reality!

any comments?

from official site:

Dan Serafini hasn't pitched in a Major League game since he received a no-decision while pitching for Pittsburgh in an 8-4 victory over the Chicago Cubs on Sept. 29, 2000.

But he hasn't forgotten how to handle himself on a professional mound.

Serafini, who'll start Tuesday against Milwaukee, appeared in 91 big league games between 1996-2000, including 29 starts. He compiled a 14-13 record with a 6.48 ERA. He was once a highly regarded prospect, having been selected in the first round (26th overall) by Minnesota in the 1992 First-Year Player Draft.

The Reds signed Serafini, 29, to a minor league contract on Monday and were expected to purchase that contract Tuesday. He began the season in the St. Louis Cardinals' organization but was released on April 21 after making three appearances at Triple-A Memphis (0-1, 9.00). He migrated to the Monterrey Sultans of the Mexican League and was 10-2 with a 1.59 ERA in 15 starts and one relief appearance during the regular season. Serafini then posted a 3-0 mark with a 2.15 ERA in five postseason starts.

Relief pitcher Felix Heredia, who was the only left-handed pitcher remaining in the Reds bullpen, was claimed off waivers Monday by the New York Yankees.

"Right now, it's just like, 'Who will be next?' " relief pitcher Chris Reitsma said.

......For current Reds players, the move was another unpleasant surprise.

On Monday, first baseman Sean Casey turned a corner in the Reds clubhouse and stopped to glance at the dry erase board.

Scribbled in green marker was the starting lineup for Monday's game against the Brewers at Great American Ball Park.

"I'm surprised I'm in the lineup," Casey quipped. "They trade everybody. Just trade everybody. Just trade them away."

A Reds official defended Monday's move.

"The bottom line is the bottom line," assistant general manager Brad Kullman said. "We still have a good core of players here. I think there is going to be some players available so we're trying to maximize our flexibility to make the right moves."

....Taking Taylor's place on the roster will be pitcher Dan Serafini, who was 10-2 with a 1.59 ERA in 15 games with the Monterrey Sultans of the Mexican League this season.

The former first-round pick will start against the Brewers today. He is 14-13 with a 6.06 ERA in 91 career major-league games, but hasn't pitched in the majors since 2000.

"We had a scout follow him very closely in Mexico," Kullman said. "He saw Serafini pitch a lot . . . and was very positive about his ability to pitch up here."

good luck all!
