Kansas City area for who knows how long....
Phila -1/2 -110

Detroit -1 1/2 -105

Toronto -1/2 -141

parlay: Detroit -1/2 -220 and Ottawa ml -225 (1 unit pays 1.07)

Phila on a roll now, team is very upbeat and having fun. Usually do well on 0 days rest anyway.

Toronto playing better. 8-1 ats at home vs NYI last 3 seasons.

NYI are 1-9-2-3 in next game after playing NYR last 15.

Ottawa very ornery heading into Carolina. 5-0-2 last 7 meetings vs Carolina. Weekes has been putting up shutouts, but it's been against much more toothless foes (LA, Pitt, MN). Plus, as this piece sez, Weekes' hand is hurting bad.

Favorite Day!

found one reason favorites tend to come in alot on tuesdays.
just noticed that on tues (ATS) Phila is 11-3, Ott is 8-3, and Toro is 11-4.

went 1-1 yesterday, -0.15 units
so that's 41-30-1 in postings here started Feb 24. +7.57 units

AP reported on NHL fans at Flyers/Devils game full of fight:

"Between the second and third periods, a portion of President Bush's address to the nation was played for the crowd at the Continental Airlines Arena. Cheers erupted five times, the loudest when Bush announced that Saddam Hussein had 48 hours to leave Iraq and when the president finished. Seconds later a chant of ``U-S-A, U-S-A, U-S-A'' echoed through the building"

Comments appreciated!

good luck everyone!

Good luck, Terryray.

REALLY like Detroit and Philly.

I'm going to need a damn good reason not to make the biggest play of the year on Detroit, tonight.

Sashi I have learn over the years not to chase just continue to grind it out with them. I can't remember how many times over the years I went overboard on a play that I thought was a L*** and got smoked. I heard something very young as a child. My mother believe it or not told me. Any team can beat any other team on any given day.;)

Grooven . . .

No doubt. That is why they play the game. I am sure your mother also told you not to gamble:lol:

However, Pittsburgh may be the best "go against" team that has been around in a long time.

I am trying to look at it like I would any other game, but I just keep coming back to a few issues.

1. Who can score besides Mario and Martin?

2. Any team that relies on a former Kings 4th liner (McKenna) for scoring is going to have problems.

Not to mention the problems a depleted Pittsburgh team is going to have trying to shut down, errr, slow down the Wings forwards. Detroit is going to score a few goals tonight. The only question is can Mario get some, too? Detroit needs points. And what better way to get them then against Pittsburgh? I really see a 5-1 even 6-2 game.

But, I will listen to those of you who are smarter than I am as far as this game goes.

Pitt can win if..

Pitt can win if..

Detroit slacks off and has defensive breakdowns, such as that 5-5 game (Det was up 5-2!) at Nashvill Feb 4. Pittsburg goalie can stand on his head. He's got some motivation, as paper sez below in piece by Kovacevic, and team did concentrate more on defense in practice:

"....The game tonight could not appear to be more of a mismatch. The Red Wings are the defending Stanley Cup champions, owners of a $70 million payroll and a roster loaded with no fewer than seven future Hall of Fame candidates in C Steve Yzerman, C Sergei Fedorov, C Igor Larionov, RW Brett Hull, LW Luc Robitaille, D Nicklas Lidstrom and D Chris Chelios.

On top of that, Detroit is peaking, having won 15 of its past 17 games. The Penguins do have the only player currently in the NHL who already is in the Hall, Lemieux, but they also have a payroll which is roughly a third of Detroit's, an 0-11-1 streak that is second worst in franchise history and a roster which includes nine players who have spent at least a portion of this season in the AHL.

Despite all that, Penguins G Johan Hedberg insisted he is looking forward to the Red Wings, the only NHL team he has not faced in his three-year career: "We've got everything to win and nothing to lose. I'm so sick and tired of this losing streak right now. I would do anything to get a win. What we've got to do is play a gritty game, play well defensively and stay out of the box. If we give them space, they're going to hurt us."

but

but

Redwings should work hard for a win here. Need more for postseason surge. Just got two points on Dallas and Vancouver.

Yzerman should be in, and team has won in everygame he's played in since coming back. If they get sloppy, he should fix that.

and that newspaper piece reports Hull has some more motivation:

"At least one of the Red Wings will have plenty of financial motivation to score against the Penguins tonight. Hull's hat trick Sunday gave him 33 goals for the season, leaving him two shy of achieving an automatic $4.5 million contract extension for next season. His contract, signed before the 2001-02 season, states that if he scores 65 goals in a two-year span and the Red Wings win the Stanley Cup at least once, another year is to be added. Even if he were to fail to score two more goals, however, the Red Wings and Hull are expected to work out an agreement to keep him in Detroit...."

I know it sounds stupid, and I'm probably throwing my money away...... I can not go against any of your arguments on going against the Pens, which is why I'm playing them at +300. A couple of bounces my way.....who know, the Pens might only lose by 4:D

Good luck tonite, TerryRay:D
