While Opening Day 2014 didn?t go as planned, the Minnesota Twins have an opportunity to bounce back and even their series with the Chicago White Sox Wednesday afternoon, when Kevin Correia takes the mound. Correia was arguably the most productive, and easily the most consistent, starting pitcher in Minnesota?s rotation last season. After three consecutive seasons of less than 67 wins, Correia will be a vital piece to the Twins? turnaround hopeful 2014 campaign.
Last year, Correia tossed 185.1 innings over 31 starts to the tune of a 4.18 ERA and a career-best 2.2 BB/9. The 33 year old is commanding all of his pitches as well as he ever as, and while he won?t blow hitters away, he can consistently keep them grounded and off balanced.
Correia has expressed an increased confidence this offseason, and seems poised to continue his improving career. He?s in line to be Minnesota?s No. 2 starter, and could represent their first win of 2014 on Wednesday. If the Twins get back to their winning ways this season, expect Correia?s quiet numbers to play a major role.
Correia is 2-2 lifetime versus the White Sox with a 3.21 ERA in four starts.
Minnesota was 11-8 last season versus the White Sox.
For the White Sox Felipe Paulino is slated to make his Sox debut Wednesday against the Twins, his first major league start since June 6, 2012. :scared:142smilie
Paulino missed time last season with elbow and shoulder injuries.
Paulino doesn't have a number of victories in mind as a goal and said instead that health is his top priority. :s4:
Paulino gets the nod in the second game in an effort to split up three lefties in Robin Ventura's rotation. The 30-year-old righty made six starts this spring, but only pitched to a 6.75 ERA over 22 2/3 innings. :scared:scared
my ytd +$261. using $100 per game as a benchmark
Sd +235 Seattle +126 Sd loss -$100
We are betting dogs all year or the runline. We will never lay more than -115 :0corn
