Two nice-looking totals for Friday.
(Much thanks to Prospector for the great Under of the Year win. Congrats!)
Angels/Tribe OVER 10 runs
Anaheim is almost always a good under play but these two pitchers are suspect. Ortiz has a shoulder problem and lasted only 1.2 innings in his last game. Got hit really hard. Nagy's ERA is drifting up and his L4 starts have not been Q-starts.
Thome and the whole team are excited about his new contract, and are looser and seeing the ball well. Both pitchers have been allowing a lot of base runners.
Phillies/Cards UNDER 8' runs. The Inspired Pitchers Theory in play here for the under. Person is pitching in his home town (St Louis) and has not lost here. He is allowing very few runs/game (3 or fewer in 4 of L6 starts) and Kile's ERA is 1.05 (!!) in his L6 starts and his a LT 3.18 vs Philadelphia in 21 games.
These two guys will combine for a 3-1 or 3-2 game. I wish I knew who will win (leaning to Phillies) but I like the under a lot.
I think that Berkman is sitting tomorrow b/o a minor knee injury which certainly takes some of the shine off the -200 for the Stros but the Bucs are definitely not a good pick Either. PASS
