Oklahoma -23

Big 12 and Mountain West are the two conferences that I follow the most. I feel strongly that Oklahoma crushes the Yucksters by at least 24. BYU's defense is not stopping Oklahoma and I don't think BYU's offense will be able to score much.

Utah State + 21

Former Utah defensive coordinator now head coach at Utah State. Utes working in a new QB. I believe they play conservatively, and out of respect for his best buddy does not run up the core, even if they can. Potential backdoor cover by Utah State.

Good luck! Is there any better day than the beginning of football season?! Woo hoo!

GL this season Kelly!!! I've been reading all over about the Def Coord now coach at Utah St "reason" for taking Utah St in that one. I see it going both ways as I feel the kids on defense and the new def coord will want to show their old coach a thing or two themselves and play extra motivated at home. Under could be the best play, but I see a DD Utah victory here. If they weren't ranked maybe a different story, but they need to win convincingly to keep the ranking....GL!!

GL to you, Hudson...

The coaching is just one of my reasons. The QB's are totally unproven. Will nerves get them the first game of the season? I believe the coaching staff will work whoever starts in slowly. Normally I agree about the running up the score concept, but Whittingham's a bit different in this regard, at least when it comes to playing a longtime friend. I'm a huge Ute fan, but don't see them repeating last year's success. I hope I'm wrong, but who knows until you see a few games with the new QB. Also, believe it or not, Utah State actually made strides last year under the previous coach. Anyway, those are my reasons. Not betting too much on this game, mostly due to the unknown QB factor.

I feel much more confident on the Oklahoma game, FWIW. BYU is overrated every year. I don't think BYU will know what hit them.

Maybe I'm wrong, but that's why it's gambling...

Thanks, Hudson. I was actually surpised they laid down to that extent. They virtually ran the ball the entire second half.... Looks like you are off to a great start today with all your other games...so congrats to you.

I cannot wait for the Oklahoma game.

So Cal
Nice... I was on Utah St too. I normaly don't follow the team but read about the Cord. going against his old squad..That has been a decent angle in years past..

Any concerns about OU's OLine?
I dont think the Off. will be able to turn it on like light swith at any time... Last year at time's OU looked like they would hit 100pts..
New OLine will need time to mesh and BYU is actually not that bad. 3+td's is alot...
BYU HC B.Mendenhall is a guy on the rise.. he can coach....

GL this year

Thanks, guys, for the well wishes.

Hey Al - that was one of my reasons (as I stated) for taking UT State. I wasn't suprised they laid up; just that they did it almost the entire second half! Utah could have scored quite a bit more on them, had they wanted to.

Tulah, as for the O line, I'm not worried. BYU only has one returner on their O line, as well.

I'm more worried that OU's star tight end went down - that sucks.

The stadium is going to be rocking with the entire state of Oklahoma down there. The Mormons will represent, just not to the extent OU fans will. They have a great coach, great quarterback and just, overall, better and faster athletes. I base my wagers largely on the circumstances surrounding games. This is the first game of the season and OU wants to start it off with a pummeling. They will run the score up as much as possible. If this were a sandwich game between Big 12 foes, I'd find a cover more likely.

BYU is not a bad team; Mendenhall is a good coach. Also, Unga, BYU's great runner has been semi-injured lately. I believe the talent differential is too great and OU blows them out of the water.

Anyway, those are my thoughts. GL guys!
