The extra-curricular action in the Carolina Panthers' 23-10 playoff loss to San Francisco last weekend drew three fines of $7,875, including two on the 49ers.

Niners tight end Anquan Boldin was fined for head-butting safety Mike Mitchell following a 15-yard completion to the Panthers' 9 in the final minute of the first half. Boldin was not penalized on the play, which helped set up Vernon Davis' 1-yard touchdown catch before halftime.

San Francisco running back Frank Gore was fined for grabbing the facemask of blitzing linebacker Thomas Davis. Gore was penalized, although the Panthers declined it.

Panthers backup cornerback Josh Thomas was fined for taking a swing at wideout Quinton Patton with about four minutes left in the game. The unnecessary roughness penalty on Thomas allowed the Niners to convert a third-and-long and take two more minutes off the clock.

Panthers corner Captain Munnerlyn escaped a fine for head-butting receiver Michael Crabtree, and safety Mike Mitchell was not fined for his hit on Davis that drew an unnecessary roughness :00x2

No team has ever won an NFC Championship game after 2 players were fined, 1 for a declined penalty, and 1 for a missed call. I looked it up.:0008
