Here's the analysis in a nutshell

TALENT: U CONN is taller, longer and stronger (with Okwando and Oriakhi) and has the best player on the floor in Kemba Walker. BUTLER never quits, plays tenacious defense and with Brad Stevens at the helm, has incredible team chemistry.

KARMA: Calhoun and U COnn (already hit with sanctions) faces further sanctions from the NCAA pending the investigation and testimony of a player that was given money inappropriately. BUTLER with Brad Stevens, makes all the right choices and has built up incredible amounts of goodwill.

MERCURY IN RETROGRADE..so everything is upside down. regardless of who SHOULD win this game from a good guy vs bad guy standpoint, U COnn has the better talent and should come away with the win.

X FACTORS: WHISTLES: obvious things How will the refs call the game. and who will get into foul. and if it's Howard then Butler is in trouble...Also what 'role player will step up for either team....for Butler last game it was Van Zant who came up big down the stretch and hit some clutch shots to ice the game. For U Conn freshman lamb continues to have ICE in his veins. Shabazz Napier handle the rock and not turn it over? Will Norad for Butler finally wake up his offensive game (I think so).

BOTTOM LINE: U Conn has turned the ship around at the right time and while Butler has had a nice run of their own, something about it seems like they've been winning despite their lack of true talent. Their team play and spirit is unparalleled. this Butler team is NOT as good as last year's team and this u Conn team is NOT as good as Duke's team was last year....on paper u Conn wins this easily but the fact that Butler stays in games even when they're not playing particularly well should keep it close than I imagine...I've seen some cappers take the points just because there are points to be taken, but that doesn't do it for me...FINAL NCAA GAME OF THE YEAR:

WAGER: U CONN buying 1 point taking the line down to 2... just in case it comes down to the wire) XTRA LARGE

U CONN $$$ line game (Large play)
U CONN 1st half (medium play)
U Conn under 1st half (small play)

prop: over/under 13 3-pt field goals.....UNDER (small)

good luck cappers.:popcorn2

Butler is a very tough mined team that finds ways to win & tonight will be no different imo. Brad Stevens & his BullDogs will be cutting the nets down tonight :toast:

Don't you love these guys that predict the winner with nothing to back up their prediction other than "they will find a way" and "very tough mined"?

What they are trying to say really is, "I am going to come into your thread and disagree with you because I can. So there."

I like the under. Because I can.

Here is the problem I see with Butler

Butler has been behind alot in this tournament

Somehow someway they managed to struggle back in hitting their 3 pointers. It almost seemed like destiny.

Tonight the destiny ends as they get behind and stay behind.

I doubt they get a lead over 8 points during the entire game.

UCONN dominators.

OA,

We have very similar views on this game. End of the day UCONN has better players and are also well coached. No team has been more effective in the tourney format this year than UCONN. Maui, Big East, NCAA

Kemba and co will them to victory

good point about FLA CAsh, but Macklin got in foul trouble and Billy Donovan joined Calipari and rick barnes as they battle for the academy award for "worst coaching moves down the stretch of an NCAA game" by not going inside to him (or even having him in the game) witht eh score tied, 23 tics left on the clock and doing NOTHING but running an ISO play for their freshman 5'9" point guard who did absolutely nothing for 21 seconds and had to rush to hoist up a prayer as time expired in regulation..We all know what happened in OT and deservedly so. I Know KARMA and DESTINY is on Butler's side but sometimes things just don't always work out according to script.

FYI : It is likely I have spent more time breaking this matchup down more than you, I would bet on it.

To date

Uconn 72.8 pts per game
Butler 71.8

FG%

Uconn 43.6
Butler 43.8

3pt %

Uconn 33.3
Butler 35.6

FT %

Uconn 76.1
Butler 72.7

Rebound ave per game

Uconn 35.8
Butler 32.6

If you would like any other stats let me know. The reason I feel Butler will win this in a close game is simple. Butler has played a long athletice team similar to & maybe better than Uconn the Gators of Florida & they took care of them. IMO Uconn has yet to play a team has solid as Butler in this tournament & they will struggle .

"the bunker"
if you wagered on this tournament based on "who should win" and "why" you`ve probably had your bones picked clean long before this game...

At some point ya have to give Butler credit for what they do to teams defensively. They take away a teams strength & they do it well (better than anyone in the tourn imo) & that is why they are again playing for the title. Don't forget they beat Pitt & Pitt was suppose to be the best in the Big East. GL on ur action , I never intended to bash or harrass you, I just feel Butler is on a mission & will not lose tonight. Also I feel this butler team is as good as last years Butler team & that Uconn is not even close to the Duke team that Butler lost to last year

no worries Cash, I'm not one to get all worked up like some people on this site, when someone has differing views than I do. And Garden Weasel, thanks as always for your insight...living up to your name again I see....

Cash, U Conn beat Pitt in the Big East tourney and I wouldn't day that Ashton Gibbs is in the same league as kemba Walker...and u Conn's bigs are bigger and longer than Pitt's. But Butler did beat them on what may have been the most ridiculous play EVER to end a game in teh history of college basketball and that could have sealed the fate for Butler this year..as I said I wouldn't be surprised to see Butler win except I just think U Conn has more talent and more talented teams usually win the biggest games. Butler has more heart for sure, But U Conn has more talent

just an observation...this tourney hasn`t exactly played to form.... a3 pt dog winning certainly wouldn`t shock the gambling world...

apologies and sorry you took offense at such an innocent comment....
