1. Comfortably Numb. The Blazers were down a quarter of their scholarship players last week in the win at Rice, due to positive COVID-19 tests and contact tracing, but return the majority of those players for the title game. UAB head coach Bill Clark announced during a C-USA teleconference that the team cleared its latest round of testing and will be without only a few players who must finish contact tracing protocol.
2. Us and Them. Both teams carry elite defensive units into the title game so don?t expect a high-scoring affair between the Blazers and Thundering Herd. Marshall was shutout the last time out against Rice but does have one of the best young passers in the conference behind center. UAB managed to score enough points in its division-clinching win over the Owls last week and return most of its missing offensive pieces from that game.
3. Have a Cigar. UAB and Marshall are the league?s winningest programs the past four seasons and both are making a third appearance in the title game. The Blazers made program and conference history by becoming the first team to win the C-USA title on the road three seasons ago and can hoist their second conference championship trophy in three years with a win over the Thundering Herd.
